Having strange problem with woods, impact, finish

Ok, i'm not sure what the hell is going on but my right hand is flying off through impact and i can't seem to get to a full finish. Hoewver the strange problem is that it is only really with my driver and SOMETIMES with my 3 wood. Misses have been tending to go the fade route (usually have in the past) or pulls.

I "thought" i figured out the problem. With the way brian fixed my swing i seem to have a very late release. Usually as long as i setup well i don't even have to think about my swing at all, it just works and end result is usually a dead straight ball.

What i "thought" i fixed was a mis-positioned right eblow at the end of my backswing. it started to "fly" a little bit and i could tell in practice swings it wouldn't get back in position and it'd collide with right hip. So i focused on that and my irons were fine tonight when i hit balls. I was even hitting the 3 iron REALLY WELL. 3 wood was pretty good with some bad here and there but with the driver i don't know what's going on.

I almost end up like a baseball players finish where i keep rotating through but with only one hand. The real ODD thing is the power is still there and the ball usually goes straight or a tiny fade LOL

help?

Do this drill:

With a 7-iron (or so) take your set-up and grip.

Undo the fingers, but leave the palm and trigger finger in place.

Try to hit some at 1/2 and 3/4th speed.

Report back.

Jim, in addition you might want to consider:

elbows same distance apart
pointed down
hit inside corner with right elbow and forearm

pinch the rails of a wheel rim between your right thumb and index finger

use twist away and extensor action to ensure a flat left wrist, and a straight spoke

swing in balance, close your eyes

Alright...did brians drill and not surprisingly it worked. Didn't solve my issues but it did help feel the lag better and i was able to hit down and swivel much better than i was before.

However i FINALLY got the range stall with the mirror and i think the root of my problem is my backswing. I just forgot what to do i guess. I am SEVERLY LAID OFF with the longer clubs. My left wrist is flat and the right bent but the driver, woods, 3 iron are pointing left of target. If i try and get it to point parallel to the plane line it "feels" like i have to "turn" my right wrist.

Guess its time to go see brian again in a couple months when it warms up.

Anybody have any ideas?

Jim are you taking the club back too upright? The longer clubs should be laid off a bit, but I think if you are too upright you might be laying the club off too much. Unfortunately this is hard to check by yourself unless you have a friend or mirror available. The drill I like to use is to stick a tee in at the end of the club and swing to the top. That tee should be parallel to the target line. BUT, you probabaly need a friend to point that out to you. Since that tee is right next to your head you may not have the perspective to see that is going on.

Jim,
If you do not get to parallel, you should be in a so called laid off position, you have your fix though with the lasers, just get on plane!!!

Pro...i am getting to parallel. I think it was a takeaway problem. We'll see. I've been practiing with making my backswing more upright by completing my backswing with a wall behind me.

I noticed that with the way i was taking it away it would go flat and if i do the takeaway the way brian had showed me before (fell into an old habit) it was MUCH easier to get upright.

I'm going to keep practicing it in the next couple days and probably try to hit some balls tomorrow or saturday. Depends, weather is getting REALLY cold again.
