has anyone tried it?

does it work?

I tested it in pro shop and it seemed very easy to return the clubface square to the ball.

My worry is that I wont be able to switch back to a normal putter if I get too used to it!

I used one for awhile. I found it more useful as a training aid, I really struggled with distance control on anything over 15 feet.

I picked one up last year at a Nationwide event and shot 68 the first round. I have won 5 times and was Player of the Year in the Georgia Section while using it. I can honestly tell you that it is a very stable putter, especially on fast greens. I have a hard time switching back to a conventional weight putter, but if it works why bother. I would highly recommend trying one.

I've had one ever since they were made available to the public. IMO, the weight makes for a more stable and consistent stroke. While I never was a great lag putter, I was able to quickly adjust to the heavy and my speed is better now.

I have messed around with some of the latest offerings in the pro-shop and man do I have a terrible time making a consistent stroke with any of those. No, I don't think there is any going back (at least for me). I can't imagine trying to make a four footer with a conventional putter. The heavy gives me great confidence on the shorter putts.

Jeff,

How do you think this club would work on slow greens from long distance. I tried one in the golf shop putting matt and it seemed super from close range but I think I would find it difficult from long range on the very slow greens we have here in Ireland for most of the year.

Lighter is definately better on slow greens. However, the trade off for close range is worth it.

Why would lighter be better on slow greens? Wouldn't you have to take huge strokes to get the ball to the hole? Lighter should be better on fast greens. More weight makes the ball go farther so a heavy putter should help get the ball to the hole on slow greens.

i think the idea is that its easier to make a consistent short stroke with a heavy putter (faster greens), and easier to make a longer stroke with a lighter putter (slower greens). Could be wrong, that's just what i would imagine.

Don't you know that Sturgess is always right??? Are you knew around here???

;)

I actually think the heavy putter feels great on fast greens!
