I'd have to video the swing to know that. I know I try to return it about the same distance, but I could be entirely wrong.
I practiced the rest of the weekend with a mirror, working on shortening up the swing. Somewhat difficult, but I think I know now feel wise where a correct top position is, versus overswinging. If I don't feel it, I can just make way too much turn too fast and send the arms flying up and around me. Need to feel more like the left arm never goes past 10 o'clock, which is really about 11 o'clock to stop the over swing. More or less need to "hold the umbrella" at the top. Villegas and Baddeley (pre-ST) are gonna be my swing models for now.
This is gonna take some work, but at least the mirror work was reassuring. I definitely need to stop the club from overswinging at the top, throwing away my lag, and destroying my arc. My downswing sequence from the shorter position certainly feels much better. The wrists feel much more stable on the way down, and medium speed swings to impact position appeared it took much less effort or manipulation to arrive square at the ball with low point in front of the ball.
I'll keep yall updated.
Flexibility is a gift and a curse.
