Unfortunately i don't know much about macgregor equiptment; however i have heard that their "tour line" or "pro line" whatever it's called have good ball speed numbers and don't spin the ball a whole lot which will help someone like you with that much swing speed.

Also, no offense but 280 with a 5 wood and a 112-114mph swing speed is not really possible unless you live in high altitude or you are getting A LOT of roll. So either you are mis-estimating your distances or you are mis-estimating your swing speed.

I had a run for awhile where I was hitting my woods longer than the driver. Even the 5w. I was hitting my 5w longer than my 3w too. Though my striking wasn't always consistent. I was in the 240-250 range with a 106mph 3w swing. At that time I couldn't hit the driver to save my life. I even switched to an 11.5* driver that I started hitting fairly well. With the 11.5* driver I was hitting low boring shots similar to what you'd expect to see from 7.5* driver. Brian's NHA talks about a problem he had with his 1i. This was similar to the problem I was experiencing with my driver.

What I found is that I was turning my hands over and doing a bunch of manipulating and I was actually getting the clubface VERY delofted. I switched to a neutral/weak grip and all the sudden my distances were down with the woods (more normal 220yd 5w, 230 3w), contact and ball flight was more consistent, and I could hit the driver again. I was once again hitting the driver 20+ yards further than all my woods.

My point, if you're doing something funky mechanical wise it could be the reason you are hitting your woods further than your driver (specifically your higher lofted woods.)

Not saying you have the same problem as me just something to think about....

Yea, I know. I would have said the same thing. I play at sea level and my other 5 wood only gets to 240-250.

Anyway, what shaft and loft combo would be better.

Just curious...did you get your driver yet? I was NOT looking for a new driver but did not want to pass on a good deal. I bought the MT460 w/ stiff DVS shaft 9.5 degree. I just got back from the range. The MT460 has replaced the Ping G2 in the bag. At least for now. I brought a bunch of drivers for a tee off just in case.

For me its about as long as G2 but is very forgiving on mishits. At least on the range. Looking forward to putting it in play. So far no buyers remorse. I was hitting it very high but I lowered the tee a bit. It has a lower profile than the G2.

Order the driver Sunday; still waiting for delivery.
Anyway, I played Sunday using just my 5 wood off the tee. My total distance with the 5 wood is 280-290. I gonna found the carry distance.
