Help make me a better golfer

On the downline view, you can see that your head moves ballward. To verify, put the mouse cursor arrow on the tip of your nose pre-swing and watch your head move passed it so that the cursor points at your ear at impact. Ever shank your 40 yard pitches?

Decent motion there. A bit quick though.

A couple observations. Try turning your lead foot open a bit at address. You have it squared off and that really limits your ability to turn through (which is why you look a bit stiff through follow through).

That also limits some of your rotation, which is why you have to be a bit closed at the top to square up.

Open that lead foot

Work on your Rhythm - Try one of Alex Morrison's great swing keys - hum Rockabye Baby as you swing. This may feel VERY slow to you based on how quick your tempo is now. HEAVY smooth motion.

Another great way to work on Rhythm - "Tour Tempo" book/CD. I don't care much for the book, but the tones are worth the price.

Hello all, I've finally been able to get some current videos of my golf swing and would like some opinions on what I should be working on to help me improve. I'm an 18 handicapper, my miss is usually a hook or pull-hook but I've been known to hit everykind of bad shot imaginable. Opinions are appreciated, thanks.

Yes, I noticed that as well. To me it looks as if my legs bend too much during the backswing, causing me to drop. I was gonna work on trying to keep my legs straighter.

Unfortunetly yes. Can you explain the relationship?

Thanks for the suggestions, I didn't notice my foot position and didn't know the consequences of it but you are right about my follow through, it does feel stiff and I've attempted numerous times to make changes to get what I feel is a better follow through/release.

Before I saw these videos I never knew how quick my swing actually looked and was suprised, it doesn't feel that quick to me. I plan on trying to slow it down.

Definetly not my intention and I'm not sure either if its just the camera angle or what, I'll have a friend take a look at my setup next time I'm at the range to see if that's the case. Thanks.

That ball sure looked like it went a long way. You look powerful.

How big a boy are yeh?

Haha, yea I can hit the ball pretty far but I gladly give up some of that distance for more consistency. Its no fun getting beat by my brother (who's actually bigger than me) even though I can out-drive him by 50 yards. I'm 5'10, 210.

Well if your head get closer to the ball, so will the hosel.

Am I a hitter or a swinger? I'm not even really sure what the technical difference is between the two but I see it discussed here often.

The simple answer to this question is, how do you accelerate the shaft? Do you pull it lengthwise, or push against the shaft?
You can pull with either arm but only push with the rear.

Thanks to everyone for the help, I've had a couple great range sessions using some of the tips you provided. Looking forward to see if I can make it work at the course this weekend. I am having trouble at effectivly slowing down my tempo but will continue working on it.

Dude you bombed that! What club and distance? I'm no expert(not even close) but everything looks good to me until the very end, a little jerky.

I agree, the swing wasn't too bad. That "jerkyness" at the end seems to me that he's just coming out of the shot slightly. I would try to retain your spine angle just a tad longer on the followthrough. Then again, I'm not really a TGM guy, so you might not want to listen to me... :D
