Help me pick a golf ball

I have driver swing speed of 97-100 ish and am a 4 HC. I usually play prov1, nike1 and callaway tour balls but I am tired of paying $40-$45.

I like the Bridgestone e6+, TM Burner TP and these Wilson 50 compression balls because they are so soft and cheap.

Am I really going to lose anything by switching to one of these?

I have tried all of these balls very recently and I really think it is a matter of preference. What I mean is, I don't really have much of an issue with distance, so I like a softer ball for around the greens. I just like the sound of it and the feel on the face when it comes off just right. Since you're a good player I bet you can make most anything work, whether it be from your long game or around the greens. With that being said, I choose a soft, good feeling ball that I like the feel of when I get within 50 yards of the green. My choice is the TM Burner TP..feels so good when you hit a really nice chip or pitch, plus its pretty cheap. Another option is to get TRACKMAN'ed, but I'm not sure this is the most reliable way, because of what some people prefer in terms of sound and feel. Hope this helps.

Taylor Made TP Red...great ball and usually there's a deal at Dick's Sporting Goods, two dozen for $55. And last I checked at Dick's, you can get the Callaway Tour-i or Tour-ix for $30 for a dozen. TM TP Reds and Callaway Tour's I find to be the longest 'player' golf balls out there.

Hey Rich,

What is the difference between the TP red and the "burner"?? I haven't been to Dicks yet to look for deals. Callaway T-i and T-ix??is that similar to the titleist stuff? Thanks.

longer than the IX:confused:........I thought the i was the prov and the ix was the Vx.

I thought the i spun too much, and I lost a little yardage through the bag.......maybe I need to give them some more "tee time"

Only you will know when you try them out on the course.

Both the Callaway Tour-i/ix and the Taylor Made TP Red go long, probably longer than any other player ball I've used. No way Titleist Pro V1 or V1x go anywhere near as far as the Callaway or Taylor Made. What I do still like about the ProV1 models is that they are soft and spin well. I think they are excellent around and on the green. I've pretty much tried them all. In a couple of months I may get a ball fitting on Trackman.
