When my videos shoot on Tuesday, I have enough time to do a shorter video that will be martketed to golf shops and the like...

What Every Golfer Should Know

The idea came from this statement of mine: "If I could just scribble some note on the back of a matchbox, and send the 'back in time' to myself at age 15...I'd be on the tour."

Okay...what would mine say.

Ball never back of middle
Divots always in front
Head doesn't move forward ever
Low right shoulder going back
Right shoulder at the ball going though
Flat left wrist and feel clubhead on right index finger

;)

Cool man. So you're saying it took you too long to learn that stuff?
BTW how old are you now Brian?

Would you advise anyone not to play the ball back of centre or is that just you? Why? Not enough time to get face closed?

I am 43....;)!

Anyway...Marty, remember who this is for...the guy who wlks in Golf Galaxy and says...

"14.95 for this here video?...sure...what is it about??"

So...this guy is NOT Mar-Tee...right?

But what 10 or 20 things (I'll take a couple from all of you) SHOULD he know...

...besides if he takes the cigs out of his left sleeve he would make a longer backswing...

That's easy - start in total balance, finish in total balance, let the club SWING like a child on a swingset and take a divot in front of the ball.

Throw in the 3 imperatives, and the EdZ drills and the 'mind in the hands', and extensor action.

Done.

I like:
Flat left wrist.
Keep the tailbone ahead of the neck bone.
The face is open 3 degrees, as we hit the inside aft quadrant.
Stretch the left side on the aroundward swing.
Swing freely. Remember, the reason we have more rhythm on the practice swings is because there is no outcome.
Hit the inside aft quadrant into the ocean!

In Brian's term:

lag
educated hands
hands-controlled pivot
sustain the line of compression
club shaft/head/face control
swing vs. hit

Never anticipate impact
The only reason My shoulders dont fly off is theyre attached to my torso :D

Want to hit the ball further?

Swing FASTER not HARDER
Don't put your hands so far behind you that you can't get them back in front of you by impact.

That inside-out impact means the clubhead is going down-forward-out all the way to lowpoint opposite players left shoulder.

I hazard a guess that - a lot of time - the root cause behind chicken winging and flipping is a distorted mental picture of what happens after impact.

Hit down on the golf ball including the driver
Shaft must be 8 degrees forward at impact
pivot does the work for swinging
straight plane line for direction
examples of lag loading- mop swinging, towel snapping, whip cracking
1 hitting procedure
1 swinging procedure

You want a myth? Tell them the only way to hit the ball far is with big X-factor and the only way to hit it sraight is with a Single-Plane swing (like the NG guys).

Wow Martee...is that a DRIVING RANGE in your back yard?!?!

Nope, just the 5th hole of our course. Does make a good practice area since it is limited membership and it is rarely busy.
