Hi first post.

It seems the Hogan secret was a lateral hip slide, I was at Borders last night and read in a book, the guys name was Jody I forgot his last name.
He said Hogans secret was a lateral hip slide, cupped lead wrist, his trail knee was pointed at the ball at all times.

Has anyone else read the book, I think it was days with Mr Hogan.

Stuart Brandt:)

Lateral hip slide......maybe.

Cupped left wrist......when in the swing? I think Hogan hit so many varieties of shot that it is difficult to answer that one. FWIW, I think I have seen more flat left wrist photos from Hogan than not.:)

Welcome to the forum.

This one has come up a few times so if u want to learn some stuff maybe check the archives. (do a search....titles only prolly)

Don't know that you can pinpoint any kind of "secret" on one certain move or technique.....it all works together and there of course is much more to a legendary player like Ben Hogan's game than one or two or a handful of things.

He improved a great deal over the years that's for sure....and he worked hard.

I think Hogan never missing left was a pretty big deal....surely he also improved himself in the "mental game" area over the many years he tried to be his best (this, if anything, would be the most "secret" of any possible "secrets").....as a whole, the swing he developed (for him) produced as good of results as have ever been attained.......etc....etc.....anyone could go on about anything and there's lots we don't even know or else we'd play like him too.

....etc....etc....

If you wanna learn one thing only from him.....(aside from actual "hows" of technique or w/e).......learn from his attitude.

The guy obviously set the bar very high and never settled for less than that.

BTW prolly should look at Moe Norman too while you're at it.....the guy hit balls until his hands bled. He put er all together and wouldn't stop until he did. (imagine what that takes tho.....the thought of it can't scare you if you are truly up for it)

So at least you should know that if you want to attain anything like these guys did you prolly need to be pretty dedicated. (even Tiger...one of the most natural golfers ever.....Tiger.....who could rip it at 3 years old or w/e.....well- he works on his game everyday....never settles)

But that of course is not for everyone.....you either are like that or you aren't I think. I can't see anyone "forcing themself" to practice all day everyday.
