Hip rotation

I've been given advice at the range three times this year by strangers. First, the worst ballstriker ever ( I kept retrieving his mi**** fairway woods shots which kept rolling in front of me from the next stall...sheesh)advised me to have more knee bend. Ignore.

Second, another advised me that I should flatten my right wrist through impact. Ummmm...I tried explaining why the right wrist needs to be bent back, but he adamantly insisted that that snap of the right wrist was the key to power. Oh boy. On a positive note, at least I know my right wrist is still bent at impact. I'm too polite. . Perhaps a bloody skull and crossbones tatoo or a nose piercing will scare em away.

Well today, one of the best ballstrikers I have seen(for an old guy) advised me to get more hip turn on the downswing, and pointed out I was sliding down into my left knee. This guy has a very silky smooth swing, and looks a lot like Yoda, and can hit it a ton. During the summer , I think I also heard him mutter under his breath as I shanked constantly, "get some f*****g lessons". Ok, I think this guy is serious.

Now the problem with more hip turn is I either 1)finish with my weight on the TOP of my toes...ouch....crunch...that part where the hair sticks out 2)I completely lose my balance and end up almost falling to the side and flailing my arms to keep balance, or 3) I finish Gary Player style, and my right foot steps forward past my hips. I also forget to swivel and end up with my arms below plane past followthrough.

I've got very inflexible hips( and horrible balance apparently), thus I was perfectly satisfied with my continuous crouching slide mini rotation of the hips. At finish, my chest pointed at or slightly left of the target and my belt buckle slightly right. I used to snap my left leg straight ala Tiger and his wonderful knee cyst, to aid my hip rotation , but my body lifted up too soon before impact and I didn't want to end up with titanium knees. However for more consistency and better compression, I can see I should have more hip rotation. The leftside pull feeling is noticably stronger.

The Gary Player step through finish with better swivel looks like the way to go. Brian did state to shift and rotate the hips to the left as much as possible. Not sure how to rotate that much without losing control.

Don't see too much hip, shoulder or any other turn in Yoda's swing and he seems to get the job done ok.

Turn only what you have to and then only the bare minimum necessary to achieve the initial objective.

For the past week, I had been mimicking your finish by placing all the weight on my left heel and outside of my left foot. I was able to keep my head and upper body from sliding forward, yet still shift weight to the left. However, I am not rotating as nicely as you do,nor do I maintain my left knee bend . I apparently increase my left knee bend and slide it past my left hip to keep balance. Just standing on my left leg is a real challenge.

Don't know why entire thread is quoted below?
I just wanted to reply to DDL!
A personal observation possibly wrong however so far seems correct for me?
Yoda observed my excessive forward hip slide (dropping below plane, etc.) and we worked on eliminating. I had some positive results however doing it right is really a chore.
While experimenting at home I found by eliminating some of my knee bend at address, impact fix, makes it much easier to eliminate this incorrect slide. With a minimum knee bend, locked back then straight, then barely bent, I make (in my mind) a perfect hip slide (2 " or less, was 6" or more!) and end up on right heel........
