Hi all, First post. I got NSA and Flipper and they had lots of good info but I have a problem I can't figure out. I have read the perfect pivot and can pivot fine without a club in my hand doing the crossing guard drill. I am very inflexible physically and I have a very hard time not letting my hips make a major move to the right when I swing and I cant tilt my teacup as in a reverse pivot. I saw some video of myself and even trying to keep my left foot on the ground my hips still shoot right even if I start the swing rotating my hip straight back as per NSA. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do to correct it? Walt

Try swinging and hitting balls with your feet together. If you sway you'll fall over. Then try switching shots, one with feet together one with normal stance, trying to recreate the feel.

I had this problem a couple years ago. I can make a good shoulder turn, but otherwise I'm not very flexible. Try not just planting your left foot, but stopping your backswing the minute you feel your left hip moving at all. I know this sounds silly and you think you won't make a sufficient hip turn, but the video might tell a different story. I feel like my lower body is perfectly still while I'm swinging, but I have plenty of hip turn when I watch myself on video. I just don't feel it until there is the "pull" feeling coming from drifting off the ball. The backswing will feel like a half swing. Again, when you watch it on video, I'm betting you'll see more like an 80% backswing, which is plenty. Maybe this just worked for me, but you might want to give it a try.

Dear Walt,

I had a big sway that I got under control by planting my stand golf bag next to the right hip. I think I had to stick a 3 wood or other longer club out to where I would make contact with it if I swayed. You can feel it and also hear the clubs rattle in the bag if you move too much laterally. Also, swinging with your rear against a wall might help, just to feel how much your moving. Good luck.
