Does the left hip turn out of the way or does the right hip fire out?
Is there a proper feel or does either action work for a correct pivot?

Yoda and 6b reported that in the unpublished 7th edition, the preferred hip sequence was:
slide-turn on the backswing
slide
turn

There is a slight slide to the right in the back swing- 10-14-B. You can see it clearly in Ben's teaching. I can't do it. But I think it is just a small hip movement, move of a weight shift than its counterpart slide to the left in the downswing. That said, you must still rotate around a steady spine. Hula-Hula anyone?

One thing this camerman brought back from Canton is that the hips are the engine. The other is that Brian needs to write all his golf stories into a book. LOL.

"...the hips are the engine"

Over the last couple of months, this point is really starting to sink in. Ben's 3 short vids on Lynn's site makes this quite clear. What made this crystal clear was watching Vijay warm up at the Canadian Open. He has this heavy club, that looks to be around 20-30lbs. It's basically a steel rod with a block of metal welded to the end. He would make a 2 part, slowmo practice swing with it. Take it to the top then let it drop to his side... pause, then using his hips he would drag the "assembly" through impact and fling it as far, down, out and forward, as he could. He'd do 4-5 of these then go back to ripping shots STRAIGHT down the range. Repeated with several clubs.

BTW: He is a freakin machine!! When he hits it, everyone watches, even the other pros!
