Hitting on an upslope is better, so..

When playing today, I hit a great drive on a dogleg right, but was about 3 yards into the rough on the upslope of the brow of a slight hill. I then hit a HUGE approach shot, great form...ball flew the green by 15 yards. The rough wasn't a factor in terms of a flyer, and I took a fine divot. For the club I used, I'd say the ball went at least 20 yards farther than normal, and that isn't even taking into account the upslope..which would have tended to reduce the distance of the club.

So I think the upslope allowed me to get more on my right side in the backswing and then also to come into the ball slightly steeper.

It seems to me that if I take that whole setup and swing ...and... rotate it from the angled upslope situaton to a level lie...that I'd be coming down more steeply.

So in summary, my question is this: does this mean on level ground, assuming I can also get more on my right side by regular means (something I'm working on), that I should hit down more steeply?

Or conversely, maybe someone can point out what that upslope might have caused me to do.
