I recently starte hovering the driver instead of grounding it at address and have had good results with it, so I decided at the range to hover with all my clubs, it seems for me at least easier to hit down on the ball. Does hovering the club move the low point forward? Because I was taking much better divots too, I usually just scrape the ground when grounding the club at address.

thnx

Hovering the driver makes sense if you have a relatively deep faced driver, as the sweet spot position is not correct (relative to the ball) with the club on the ground. That is why you hover (the sweet spot) directly behind center of the ball...

Can't figure your iron tho, unless you are making a compensation during the swing?.....

it may promote a more lagging clubhead takeaway, without you realising it, which helps move low point forward.

as a side note, jack nicklaus said he never grounded any club. driver or iron

That makes alot of sense thanks, Im glad I found something thats starting to work, because my game took a deep dive this summer.

Worked for some guy named Nickloss and I believe Greg Norman. Jack supposedly did it out of necessity due to him spending a great deal of time in the lush rough of Scioto CC as a youngster. Said it helped prevent him from getting the club hung up in the grass. He also said that he never had to worry about grounding a club in a hazard because of him hovering the club. Norman copied the move as Jack was his idol when he was learning game. They have both said that hovering the clubhead is a good means to help prevent tension in the forearms.

Yes I used to have nasty snap hooks, but lately I've been battling the sh@nks, dont know why or where that came from but I've been tinkering all summer to fix stuff, right now I am hitting a fade when I hit it well, and a big push when I miss it.

Maybe the hovering got you going, "up the wall, down the wall" better allowing you to more closely zero out your path. Sounds like you have to fix the clubface now. All the best.
