Hi,

Golf is my life and passion but lately its become real boring:mad: Im 16 and 6 handicap and I would love a career in golf but I have no one to play with at my Golf Course. I hate playing on my own its boring! the only time I enjoy playing is when im in competition, golf competition is my life I LOVE IT, when coming down the last few holes winning and stuff I just love golf competition! But now most the golf competitions have finished untill next march what can I do? I dont have much interest in Social golf unless im playing with people who want to win as much as i do!

My Dad is starting to say my attitude is awful on the course when i play with him but the thing is my attitude isnt bad its just i find it so boring !!

What can i do???

Son, you have a problem. I sympathise.

However, golf is more about beating the course, and yourself, than beating other players in competition. I gave up playing competition golf because no matter what my opponents did it had no effect whatsoever on my scores or the way I played, or vice versa, - matchplay notwithstanding.

You need stimulation (what guy of your age doesn't, lol ) and you will only get that by playing against guys who are your equal or better than you. Seek them out at your club and fix up games with them.

Good luck.

I suppose ill have to ask these good players to play with me wont i! Its the only way im going to have fun playing golf when not in competition.

Thanks

Just make sure to go out of your way to be respectful to the older guys and they will be in your corner. I've been there.

Ricky,
You can play different games with yourself and learn and improve a lot on days you don't have any competitive games.
1. Take only 5 clubs and see how well you can score. Analyze your shots and game and adjust your club selections for the next round and see if you score better with a different set of 5 clubs.
2. Play the forward tees and see how low you can shoot. This is a very good excercise and one that most people will not do because of their ego, but training your mind to be okay with shooting low scores is a very good excercise. Also, you will probably find that you won't shoot as low as you expect and it will show you what parts of your game really need improvement.
Just a couple of options. I hope that they help.
