How do you make a steeper shoulder turn

Get your right right forearm higher than your left on the takeaway and then fly the right elbow to reach the top like Nicklaus...guaranteed steep shoulder turn the entire backswing..The question is,why do you want to do it?

for the longest time, I still couldn't do the backswing correctly. Something feels awkward on the way back and on the way down. If I have my hands really deep in the back I get stuck a lot. If I try to swing to the left it feels like a huge flop shot. On a good day, I can hit it pretty well, on a bad day I will hook the ball pretty good. It sucks that my small tournament is starting this weekend, and I still couldn't figure out when I'm hooking the ball. Last tournament I shot 86 because I hit a lot of hook into the tree, and my irons shot were leakage draw. My 52 degrees went about 15 yards short.

I feel like I don't really have room to swing on the down swing.........Maybe I have a reverse pivot? or hands not deep enough? I try to have my hands more deeper, but it feels like it's impossible to catch up. any advice would be good thanks :)

flying elbow...deeper

This feels like as deep as it can get to me.

OT:

I could be wrong but your clubface looks shut at address. If so, do you do that intentionally and why?

it's correct. because midbody setup makes it look a little shut.

I've been confused about this as well. When I have my wrist flat parallel to the ground, I'm only a little bit strong. Mid Body, it looks awkwardly strong.

Overall, looks pretty good, Jen.

Just some comments:

From the top, you really don't have much Fill the Gap/Hogan's missing piece move starting down. Not so much axis tilt. Like Brian shows getting ready to throw the javelin.

I can see how you would feel like you would feel stuck on the downswing. Like there's no "clearing" type of move starting down.

Do you think this leads to kind of a pivot stall-out through impact and your hooks are mainly Face issues?

I understand you are a bit leary of creating what would seem to create more in to out. But actually you may be blocking yourself through impact and shutting down the face.

and obtw, I'll be looking for that swing on the range. I knew that place looked familiar. Don't you love those new mats? ;)

LOL. I'm there everyday. Hitting 400 fat balls.

They just renovate the whole place, and they always make fun of me saying that I paid for almost everything. Since I'm there everyday lol.

Maybe I'm just too shut at the top and causing all kind of problems. I'm going to adjust my setup a lil.

funny, i get a medium bucket, try to hit every shot the best I can, and then head to the putting green.

Update.

I have setup so the club is square and not shut.

Basically I stop doing all the crazy things just bring the club up with my right elbow pointing down and then just swing, let it drop and shallowing enough. I'm also Let the forearm rotate a little naturally and not laid off or anything. It was great. Somehow I feel like I'm really naturally swinging the elbow plane, but I'm trying to swing on the shoulder plane, makes it steeper, harder to swing, especially when I do the carry. And I also think too much carry can be detrimental to the golf swing. I guess it's just better when you swing naturally with what's compatible with you.

I used to hit the ball great when I didn't have a coach, and i started to take lessons and it went worse each time around. Somehow some where the softdraw pattern and never slice again helped me. Too many mechanical thoughts could be bad too, Sometimes I get really clouded with all these technics. Just swing the god dxxx club.!!!

thanks guys! I'll probably try to see Brian in person eventually, but it's just a bit far from Socal.

So where you there today? It was really really really really windy again.

I try to stay away from the range if it's too windy. We're you hitting off that terrible grass out there? If I see you there one day I will introduce myself. I have yet to play the new holes. Looking forward to that.
