How do you setup your body open to the target?

do you square your body first and then pull your left foot back? or do you have to open both the upper body and the foot alignment?

When I open my body,i don't hit a fade, instead i just pull the ball to the left. Am i not setting it up correctly?

Maybe when I'm setting up my body open, but the club face is closed, that's why I'm pulling

dunno

The more "open" you set up, the more "inside out" (relative to your body line) your swing must feel in order to hit toward your target. Perfect example is Lee Trevino. He was "inside out" relative to his body, but was swinging "left" of his intended target.

This is funny, not the thread but when it appears, see I played yesterday and all the discussion of swinging left must have trickled into my swing somehow, I didnt notice untill my playing partner said " how do you set up open like that and hit it toward the target" I said "open me no way" see Im closed stance for all clubs, but when I chip and short pitches I set up open. Well I had some 60 to 80 yd pitches where unbeknown to me I was setting up open and according to my playing partner way open, compared to my regular set up. I started playing attention to my set up and darn it I had a 190 td tee shot and decided on my hybrid 3 and sure enough open set up, felt like I was facing the target, hit a nice high straight shot on the green, I usually draw the ball on this green, weird. This particular swing felt, how canI say it, shorter but just as powerful, weird plain weird.

we should play sometimes, since you are around the area. I usually play around inland empire and riverside. Maybe you can teach me how to putt

The link below is an old swing video.

My current swing is a little less violent, but when I use the driver my swing gets like what you see, Ive tried to tame it some but that causes more issues, pull, slice, worm burner. lately I usually tee of with my 3 wood or hybrid 3 its what it is.

have you tried to swing the driver up to the right before?

does that give you a push slice?

Yup OC baby, I started out with NSA, helped my irons tremendously but did little for my driver swing. After hooking the irons too much I went to NHA stopped hooking but didn't do too much for driver. Went to soft draw and helped driver a little, less violent, but shortened my irons. Now the feel I get after reading the current long thread on release is this , feet square, shoulders a little open plus I use a tenfinger grip so this aids a little with open shoulders, backswing goes a little outside, on my transition move it feels like a little axis tilt to the right, with a little inside out swing, and bam to ball takes off.

Yes and sometimes yes and sometimes low hook, when the ball is teed to a point where the ball is stiking about half way above the driver. If I the all higher as in tee it high and let it fly thenits is a slice or a seriously pull hook.

that's funny, the guy at Empire lakes driving range had the same problem.

I fixed him within 3 min. He's a solid iron hitter, but slicing or pull hook for the driver.

Anyways, I had good luck with my putting, i had a lot of good 1 putt (thanks for your advice), but I still pull a lot to the left, I hate it when I miss the cup by 1mm!!! I figure i'm too handsy, maybe tha'ts why. Also another tip I got was to hold your breath when you putt, it helped a lot too. That tip is from Jack Nicklaus' book!

As long as you don't take as long as Jack did to pull the trigger on some putts, or you might black out.
