How do you teach lag?

or do you? I've found it's one of the most difficult things to get into a swing. Usually I've had most success with the tic-tac and working on club face. What; if any, common errors do you see in your student's swings?
Thanks.

Hands should always stay ahead of the clubhead. Lag = follow, in its simpliest terms.

Body then hands then clubhead, a recipe for lag.

Homer said the lag is "simple, elusive and indispensable, without substitute or compensation and always present." No wonder it is called the secret of golf.

The opposite of lag is clubhead throw away. Clubhead throw away is lagless.

Applied the flying wedges, a flat left wrist with a bent right wrist, again in its simpliest form, ahead of the clubhead into impact. Learn to chip with the hands ahead of the ball, producing a solid impact as a drill. That is lag. A chip is just a shorten full swing.

Good Luck. I hope some of these words help you picture what needs to be done.

Swing (or imagine swinging) a club made heavier or something equivalent.
