How good is your eye?

When watching a pupil hit shots with the naked eye is it really possible to see swing plane/pivot mistakes or does the result of the ball flight give you a clearer indication of what preceeded it. Would you normally video the swing right off the bat or would it be possible to solve problems without the use of video.

Many thanks

10 out of 10 i can see the 1st wobbly point ---

Video is the easiest way to get the student on board with a desire for increased precision

There is very little that i don't grab with my eye that video will show. The only thing is what is happening near the impact area because there is too much speed.

HOWEVER

By where their HANDS FINISH and HOW they finish i know what was happn' down there ;)

Well I don't watch the person at first. I watch the club. Then I watch the person. I'm always thinking equipment first though.

Figure out the intent and fix it.

The sound of impact and ball flight first, which gives me the impact condition.

In combined with the body motion, I speculate what's going on in their mind, which generates that motion pattern.

Then I test my hypothesis by asking the pupil what's in their mond and do something the opposite. If I I got it right, I then give an explanation to the student. If not, I continue the process till it's proved, during which the better the student's information and commitment, the faster the process.

Up to now, there is not much left to be tested.
