How much 'squat' and hand distance from legs question

How much "squat" does one do on the downswing? Will it be enough to see the head bob down then up? I know I'm swaying too much on the downswing and I believe it's because I'm not squatting enough. However, when I place a mindset to make sure to squat towards the ball, I end up hitting it fat. Is there a drill that will give me the right feeling for the squat move?

Also, how close are the hands to the right leg on the downswing (right hand swing)? I feel like when I have it too close then my plane is too flat and I hit fat/thin shots. Is there a drill/checkpoint for this as well?

I do have both NSA and Flipper videos so any reference to them is understood.

i think Brian's tip is to try and feel you put as much force into your right foot as you do on the ball. sort of using the ground as leverage to drive your arms through the ball, creating the seperation between the legs, and the squat you desire

I felt the same way. Brian had me feel as if my hands were against a wall at the top of my swing (i use NHA). With a straightish spine I fall (squat) on the left leg pulling my arms of the wall, not down. The spring up helps propel the arms down and forward to get the swing bottom where it should be.
