How to NOT lag the hosel??

What's a way to make sure you DON'T lag the hosel? My journey has been from Never Slice Again to Soft Draw and now to Never Hook Again. I love the swing but sometimes I'll leave the face WAY open. I assume I'm lagging the hosel? Perhaps not. Any ideas? Thanks

Thats a good answer but you can still FEEL the hosel holding the twist. Tough question there curtis. I had difficulty with it forever until a combo of SD backswing, holding the twist, and practicing lagging sweetspot FEEL all the way past impact.

It does feel right with that SD backswing though...I read a poster say in another thread about holding the face 45 degrees to the ground helps fwiw.

imo the number #1 problem for people who lag the hosel is an over rotation of the left arm in the backswing because they are either A) leaning too far right at top of backswing (for a righty) or B) they swing too far right on the downswing (which can happen from A above).

This leads people into rotating the left arm more to allow them to swing so right w/o hooking the crap out of it.

I often shank when I get underplane.

I could shank regardless of how open my clubface is.....but there is no doubt it is worse if it is too open.

Add in attempts at more forward shaft lean (to an already too open clubface and any move that gets you underplane at any point in the swing) and I am operating in The Danger Zone. (Of Shanks)

This (and big right misses) is why NHA took a long time to really really click with me. (to its full effect)

I would get underplane late in the downswing without knowing it. Even when I was trying not to and thought I wasn't. Add a newly more open clubface to that and from what I know.............well............

...I guess:

Jim, I don't believe I'm doing either of those 2 things as the NHA swing takes care of them. Maybe I just have a very open clubface sometimes. It's not often but maybe every 20th swing. All I know is that I can't let this happen once I step onto the course. Judging by the direction of the ball my clubhead must be open like 45 degrees or so. This may be a dumb question but is there a difference between lagging the hosel and having a very open clubface?

Thanks

Keep dorsal upper forearm hair towards the grass all the way

I´m one of the 6.000.000 who tries to do a (misunderstood...?) hands and wrists Twistaway move (done the Dante version even before BM membership) and still has an open clubface. Since using my EX-F1 it´s amazing how much my clubface position is due to upper forearm rotation...

If you dont down arch the left wrist, snap loading will almost always open the face or at least keep it the same amount open for too long.

This is a major point. I cannot snap load without leaving the face wide open. Only when I began turning the sweetspot towards the plane did I cure this, especially with the wedge, is easy to shank because of the short shaft and the inability to square the club in time.
