Met a guy at the range tonight who wasn't having much luck getting the ball to fly .
I would love to give lesson someday so I asked him if I could take a look and experiment on him.

He said sure he was open to anything new and would love to hear my opinion. I told him to get better posture and also to bend his knees a little bit. Posture still doesn't look up to par though.

When he did start to get the ball in the air it would fly straight to the right . At the moment I realized I had no clue what i was doing because I didn't know what to tell him to get the ball to fly straight.

I tried moving his ball position and better alignment which helped a little but not much. Was a fun experience and made me respect teachers who have a clue lol

To come out of pocket for a bucket of 3 dozen tiny little disapointments... just goes to show you how powerfully addictive the hope of just one well struck shot can be.

Amateur teaching. Can be a touchy subject. Good to nicely ask whether they want some help.

We have a great practice (shag range) at a public course nearby. Frequented by just a few of us regulars.
So a few days ago a guy I only know to say hello is hitting away and about every other ball is just like the
last posted video. He is 65 years old, but in good shape. It was making me crazy. I walked over and said that
he looked pretty frustrated. That way he could ask for help.

I simply asked him what he working on. What was he trying to do. He explained that he was trying to keep his rear
knee from straightening and keep his hips from rotating on the backswing. He had read it somewhere. Consequently he
could not pivot behind the ball. Kept it grip change and debunking the hip rotation thing. Any more would have been too much.
He promised to work on it and we shall see how he progresses.

Lol indeed! So where do you start on a swing of this nature? How do you get them on track

Always either root causes or taking away any rewards for bad moves. Since there is no reward (I.e, ball flight is unworkable), just start chipping away at the bad things. In your friends case, amongst other things of course, he needs to tumble that thing so it goes left so he gets gets some feedback. I just looked at it quickly.

Golf Instructors

Golf instructors are involved in the purest form of capitalism. If they can't please their customers they don't make a living. Tough profession!

I had a pretty easy one today. Guy is just starting to swing, had a few lesson, but is slicing and pulling every other ball with his driver. After he watches me he asked for a quick view to see what hes doing and why hes slicing, didnt say anything about pulling. So I watched him, I dont know what his instructor told him, but he had a way open clubface at the top and could not square it at impact. So I gave him a small dose of the old twist away with a little soft draw takeaway and he was good. He was so happy and I think I made a friend cause he asked how many times I come to the range and do I play this course. It sure is nice to help those that need it, then there are those, my dad, who wants to figuire it out with no help, dig it out of the dirt ala Ben Hogan.

A lot of choppers have dug half way to China and haven't found anything yet.

Same thing with me but I'm friends with his instructor. I'm trying to tell him to have his student try this and explained why. He didn't wanna tell him because he thought that was crazy... so instead he introduced the student to me and said to try what I had to say. As Brian says in the video, the first swing he still sliced the ball, my friend (teacher) looked at me and smirked. I said relax that always happens and to do it again- baby draw after baby draw; then I smirked...loved it!!!

Nsa2, like it or not, it works every darn time!!
