I can't get my arms to keep up with my body (with video)

I dont have a dtl on this computer yet. Ball flight is draw. Misses are mostly pushes or overdraws. Ive been trying not to "hump the goat", thats why there's so much lateral slide. Still looks like my right hip is moving toward the ball before impact though.

I'm hitting the ball pretty good, but it looks like I'm dragging my arms behind me. I have "impact hips" at last parallel.

IMO, you can start by changing a few mechanics and sequencing early. Id love to see an earlier hip turn and a higher right arm. I think you over use and over stress your arms so your body drags them out in the transition. They cant get down early enough in the downswing and tumble the clubhead to match up with your body.

Thanks for the reply. I've been thinking about this all day and I have a theory that part of the reasons for the arms dragging is due to the fact I'm left handed but play right handed.

My right elbow is in a neutral position at the top, but during the transition it just hangs back and goes into a punch position the whole way down. I think this may be due to the fact that i have no skill in my right arm for throwing, etc. While most good players seem to drop the right elbow on the downswing, perhaps naturally, I think this is something I'm going to have to consciously work on.

I have never understood the 'earlier hip turn' as a piece of the fix for a hooker (as opposed to the NHA hip slide feel). What does that mean and what does it accomplish?

I think it's because the earlier you tumble the club the less likely you are to have a path that's too far inside-out.

Often when you turn the hips earlier, it can soften the transition. This can decrease the chances of humping and firing the hips and dropping the club to the inside. I like to see room for the hands to work into the body so the club can tumble, or work out to the ball. This will straighten and steepen the clubhead's VSP approach to the ball and allow and exit route to the left by better use of #3 accumulator. It will also promote getting rid of the disgusting strong right hand grip.

No guarantee but a good start to sequencing things properly.

I hate showing preference but i cant stand a delayed, restricted hip turn unless you're Gumby.

I took Kevin's advice on sequencing, trying to make an earlier hip turn, and lowering the arms sooner. I added a steeper shoulder turn so that my right arm isnt so far behind me at the top.

I think it looks better. It feels more effortless. Feels like slower body but faster hands.

Thanks for the help! :D

Thanks Kevin.

Amen.

IMO, you can never start the hip turn soon enough. Hogans hands weren't even shoulder high in the backswing before he started his lower body. He had arguably one of the flattest swings ever.
