I found a way to stop the underplane issue

At setup, lift your arms up and then turn your shoulders to the backswing. Think about how you gonna hit the ball from there. It's definitely not gonna be laid off. Practice a few times of the downswing from the backswing position.

WIN!

You are describing the NHA backswing.

it depends danny, sometimes that works but most of the time it doesn't. Reason is people with a swing like his simply have what i describe as "too much around and not enough up." They don't get the club/hands/arms high enough in the backswing and end up too low. So steepening the shoulder turn is kind of just band-aiding because you still aren't learning that at some point in the backswing you have to lift the arms.

I guess I should make something clear here. My concern was only the downswing, how to not get under plane.

This was a night mare for me for quite some times now.

here is the list of my problems

1. laid off downswing, due to under rotated flying wedge.
2. Too steep of a shoulder turn
3. Down arch didn't work because it would swing too much to the right with a close club face, meaning eat the grass, dig a huge hole on the ground.

Why did the yellow brick wall didn't work for me?

1. It's very hard to swing left when you have a laid off down swing, because the club face is so open.
2. The opening of the left shoulder blade didn't work, again laid off down swing.

The only way to fix my problem was the back and forth drill. I used to think about stretch the fat, head behind swing. That just doens't work for me, I would hti it very fat everytime. I would need some kind of carry. THE RIGHT KIND OF CARRY. I can't just carry the club and hit the ball, it would have to fit the carry that I need. Not everybody has same kind of hands drop, and speed, I think everyone would have to work on their carry differently.

Every pattern here on the website is great for you to understand how golf works, but you would have to find your own swing, what fits you.

based on that list of problems i would basically give you NHA and let you modify to suit. So i stand by my original statement

Looking at your avatar think I'd do the opposite. I used to look like you at the top.. push , underplane city. Nitemare.
Your shoulders are like nearly parallel to the ground, and you're nowhere near bent over enough. I dunno how you hit the ball from that position.
Not sure about the lift arms thing .
Steepen torso on the backswing and forget the arms, but maintain that flying left wedge angle , whatever it's called.

that av is years ago.

Thanks for the interesting OP, JenH. Not so much about underplane (for me), but about the backswing. I had problems lifting arms in the backswing so about 2 months ago I discovered what you described there and found it to be a marvelous help. I don't have NHA, so I'm glad to know it's "acceptable." :) Fwiw, I have SD and have used it a bit, but I just don't have much lift in that backswing.

shame on you, you live in cali and want a scooter?! you know how much i would KILL to have access to that type of riding ANYWHERE close to here? It's the reason why i am selling my duc :(.

For CITY-LIFE, i love the scooter more. Honest.

I would have thought the other way. When I'm on the country side, I enjoy riding much more. No cars around me, I feel much safer.

what's OP? In other forums I go to, OP = ONLINE PXXXX lol

Lifting the arm and blend in with your shoulder turn is the most difficult thing for me. EVER.

I MEAN EVER! It's just so much easier if you swing around your shoulder. BUt now I just think of playing baseball, where you lift your arms up.

I think I might actually go to Chicago for business trip, maybe i"ll pay you a visit. We can get buzzed playing golf and talk crap about one plane swing. IT WOULD BE FUN!!

OP means Opening Post, or sometimes the person who wrote the opening post.

From what I've seen of your swing, very upright, I am suprirsed you are saying it is difficult for you. I recall a post of yours from about 2 weeks ago where you were saying the ORDER of how you do your backswing. Sounds like if this variant is better for you, you were working miracles getting so upright by lifting the arms later in the swing.

i just mean you can ride to some nice places close to LA i live in the flat ass midwest with no good riding near me without riding HOURS somewhere. So for city life i like the scooter, if i was near twisty roads all the time i'd have a bike.
