I love Bubba

because he plays golf. He knows how to play golf. He's learning how to win.

Actually he has known how to win for some time now. He's just learning how to win on the big stage.

Bubba never bought into swing systems. Never had to. The best players never have. That's what makes them so much fun to watch.

Same with P. Mikelson.

A great day for us lefty's. Winner & runner-up. Wow.

Great, naturally developed (I think) swing. Seems like a good guy. Does it his way.

Great, full, left (his left) leaning pivot...

Hehe...;)

Speaking of stones, Bubba was impressive today. It was fun to watch him rip driver on those wafer-thin fairways, and he made a lot of clutch putts. That up-and-down on the last hole was world-class.

It'd be great to see him win a major. He plays surprisingly well on tight courses.

Bubba is hugely entertaining to watch. That up and down on 18 was great. I loved watching him hit enormous, long cuts into fairways on the back 9 yesterday. What was he hitting into 18 - a 6-iron?

Is it me, or is Bubba starting too seem more and more comfortable out there? If that's the case, then I agree that he has at least one major coming his way.

BTW, have you guys noticed how often Bubba seems to knock it stiff? Maybe it's a "seems like" kind of thing, but it seems as if he does it more than a little bit, given the amount of curve he plays on his shots. Crazy...

Not sure of the reported yardage on 18, but Woods did say the tees were moved up two boxes.

One of the main reasons that I enjoy watching players like Bubba (aside from his enormous talent) is that he just seems like a "real" person. Wears his emotions on his sleeve, plays his own way, and doesn't really seem to care what others think. He is one of the crop of players (also Fowler, GMac, Dustin) that I believe is GREAT for golf.

i just find it mind boggling how someone that looks like that can fly a ball that far...incredible! does he even work out at all?

one thing that strikes me about his long and loose swing is that it is also very controlled and in good tempo. his long and loose is not reckless. best of both worlds.

also like how he comes across as a person. very likable. humble but confident. energetic but good natured. very much unlike tiger woods:)

That was a fun tournament. I'm usually not a huge Phil fan, but pulling the pin when you're a hundred out made for some great theatre.

Hey, go pull the pin, I'm 110 out and I'm about to hold this bi&*(

And this Vegas kid, looks like he could be the real deal.

yeah i think they were saying it was a 7 iron but looked more like a 5 iron. the commentators really jack up the yardage of their drives and always report 1 to 3 clubs shorter for their approach shots. these guys all hit driver into 15 at celtic manor the hole was playing between 250 and 260 yrds, it is slightly uphill and the wind was not hurting, id take what these commentators say with a pinch of salt.

Gee, aren't his hands too high on the backswing? Does'nt his head move back too much? Awful big pivot too. Maybe he needs to watch Tiger take a couple lessons. In all seriousness, my daughter is a lefty, I emailed her Bubba's swing and just told her to do what he does. He is so much fun to watch. What a golf swing!

I was explaining the same thing to my dad and his buddy yesterday. Bubba was playing the other par on the back and they gave the yardage as 614 or something. They then show the graphic that he hit his drive 360 downhill and has 160 in. Last I checked, that's 520, not 610+. I do not like the fact that they try to hoodwink the viewers.

They also had all the guys hitting 5 irons into the par three @ 193 yds. AK hit a 4, and he wasn't babying it either. That's way more realistic on a cool day, slightly up hill.

I know how hard this game is and how good those guys are. But I also know how far they hit it according to trackman. I wish the anouncers were more honest.

Do the announcers fudge the clubs on purpose or is it the people on the ground that are fudging these numbers? And if so, what are they getting out of it except making Tour players seem more superhuman than we already believe they are. But yes, BUBBA IS THE MAN.

The point you're making here triggered a related point I've always thought about: When a golf hole is measured, it's not measured in a straight line from the tee box to the green, is it? I would think it's measured along the middle of the fairway, taking into account the curve?

If this is the case, then when someone like Bubba carries a dogleg, or cuts the corner and hits it 360, might this be an explanation for the variance the yardage numbers?

That being said, there does seem to be some "fuzzy" math going on from time to time.

Yeah, it seems that all of a sudden 350 yards is the new 300 yards. If that's truly the case it looks like I'm in the market for an R11 or G15.

Sort of on topic, I wonder why US tv doesn't use that overview graphic of the golf holes with each players' shot path and where their balls ended up like they do on the Euro tour telecasts.

Which leads me to something that I've also been wondering about since Dustin J shot from the "sand trap" during the Open. I clearly recall seeing the "overview graphic" of where Dustin's ball landed flashing on the screen and that graphic clearly showed the ball was in a sand trap.

I was puzzled that it didn't look like a sand trap when the telecast went back to live action and was doubly puzzled when none of the telecasters mentioned "sand trap" when Dustin got ready to take his shot after clearing everyone out of the way. Am I the only one who noticed the "overview graphic"? Judging by how it all worked out for Dustin and by the way it was portrayed by the announcers, maybe so.

Does anyone else remember it the way I saw it on tv? If so, then I'd say that it wasn't only Dustin and his caddie that screwed up.

Gotta love Bubba! He definitely seems like a great guy + he has the game to back it up. Sunday was a very good demonstration of modern power golf.

Bubba and Phil are definitely fun to watch.

it is just to create excitment and there is nothing that creates more excitment or captures the golf audience attention than distance. i guess with tiger not playing his best they have lost alot of viewers i for one dont watch nearly as much golf as i did when tiger was playing well. i watched bubba play the 14th at st andrews it is 618 yrds was playing against a very slight breeze, the fairways where not of the concrete variety as they are when the open is held there, he hit 2 drivers and was well short. made me laugh when they said he hit a driver and a short iron into a supposedly 614 yrd hole. yes these guys hit it long but do they hit it as long as the commentators make out, not a chance.

The reporters probably got Vegas' second into 18 right. They said 5 iron from 215yds. He came up about 15-20 yards short, in the water, from the rough.

The numbers on their irons don't really mean much do they. I've heard that Phil's 8 iron is bent more like the average Joe's 6 iron.
