2-J-1.IMPACT ALIGNMENTS 2nd para...
'...A geometrically proper procedure is to establish the correct radius with the Clubhead raised to the desired Impact relationship. Then maintain the center of the arc - that is, Left Shoulder - as now established, and hold the Hands at the height and angle now established, then let the Club swing down from the Wrist to rest on the ground. Now apply Extensor Action (6-B-1-D) to stretch the left arm and get as "far away from the ball as possible." (Without disturbing any of the Fix alignments) So - "Soled," the ball is toward the Toe of the Clubface, but "on centre" for Impact. All this is the geometry for a clean pick-off.

I got two KZG maraging face 3 & 5 woods today with stiff shafts, and I was hitting them off mats tonight, getting as "far away from the ball as possible." (my emphasis) and was hitting them 240 & 260 solid, and much more centred on the face, than is my usual custom.

There is a tendency, currently, in all that false instruction to get us to stand as close to the ball as possible. Arms hanging straight down etc etc.

I'm interested to hear of other experiences of the use of this piece of instruction from Mr Kelley.

Well, the club is going down AND OUT. During the swing, the effective weight of the club is close to 100 lbs. This weight will want to pull the left arm out and pull your weight toward your heels.

It has always seems right to me to have the weight more back toward the heels and arms "out" a little more away from the body to brace yourself for the outward pull.

I teach every single student to addres the ball toward the toe with the ball off of the ground, and more so when the ball is teed up.

When I address the ball, I initially line the ball up with the clubhead sweetspot and then sole the club. The result is the ball is towards the toe of the club. The higher the ball is teed, the more it is towards the toe of the club after the club is soled.
