I Will Push Fade No More Forever

Well, I actually hit balls at a range for the first time this year trying to figure out my driver. I can put it in the fairway with a little cut but wasn't liking the distance. Soft Draw was working half the time, either nice draw and long or push fade and long.

So here's my solution I found today:

This is probably a band aid but it just worked 30 minutes ago. STRONG grip, closed my club at address a little and swung like hell with a little LCT and stressing the shaft. The results were great! LONG and STRAIGHT. These things were carrying 250 and dropping with not much roll probably because the range is muddy as hell (it floods). I'm thinking on the course they will go 270 or so, not sure. What do you guys think of my band aid? I'll play it on the course tomorrow and report back. Right now I'm feeling pretty good!!! :)

I think that, if you want to hit up on the driver, you'll need to learn how to draw the ball without an ultra-strong grip and a closed clubface at address.

I disagree. Plenty of pros use a strong grip with driver. You gotta do what works for you, time will tell.

I was replaying the events in my head and I'm even more happy. I was hitting into a slight wind and the crappy balls are at least 6 years old that have been in my garage (winters and hot summers). I would think a brand new ball would go farther, maybe not. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Name me one pro who has these three things:

1) a very strong grip
2) a closed clubface at address
3) a positive angle of attack with the driver

Key is will it perform under the gun........

Thats when you learn the go to shots or the day your a space cadet......

Morgan Pressel LPGA, minus closed club face at adress.

Yeah, that's two out of three. The point I was trying to make is that if Curtis wants to be able to hit up on the driver, he'll need to get rid of the hooded clubface/ultra-strong grip combo. Obviously I'm not trying to say that you can't hit up on the driver with a strong grip - tons of guys do it. However, if he's having trouble drawing the ball, a very strong grip may not be the answer.

I agree, the closed face should go. However, if it's working, roll with it. You know if it's a band-aid it won't last. Even the best brand peels off eventually.

Good news, it works on the course. Several pars and even 1 birdie for 9 holes. You would think there would be a low trajectory due to my "fixes" but I'm actually getting a high slight draw if not straight. I'm sure the D-plane explains this but that's over my coconut. :)
