Hi everyone,

I'm a long time lurker, but never posted my swing. I've got all Brian's videos and have really improved since I found this site about a year ago. I'm very appreciative of the time many of you take to explain things. I'm playing to about a 5 right now. I hit my 7 iron right at about 150 yards. I hit the ball waaaaay to high. It is hard for me to score in breezy conditions. For years my bad shot was a short right fade. NSA has helped that and I'm definitely making much better contact, but now I'm pulling a lot of shots left with some draw. Loved COFF and I'm working very hard on my flip, but some remnants remain. Any advice you guys have would certainly be appreciated.

I apologize for the camera angles, and grain of the videos. I used 420 fps, and will use less next time. I got excited about my new camera's capabilities!

Nice swing. I don't think you're too far off. Two things I think would help:

1) a little more hip turn in the takeaway
2) less open clubface at the top and at halfway down

Plus i just dont think you use the ground enough in the downswing. You need to pounce on that left foot more to stress your hands and the shaft.

I certainly agree with Kevin. You almost have 'dead' footwork. I also think that pitch elbow may be good for you, but I'm not certain.

bluedevil,

It looks like you are leaning left at address / instead of more like this \ .

Try bumping your hips laterally towards the target and lowering your right shoulder at address.

This will help your pivot and set you up more behind the ball.

I was thinking the same but I was unsure of the camera angle so I did not type it.

I see all of your suggestions as awesome. I feel I know what a good swing looks like, but for some reason when I look at myself (or anyone's swing where something just doesn't look right) I draw a blank. Thanks for the educated eyes, and if you think of anything else....lay it on me. Much appreciated. After this soccer match, I'm off to the range!

Well...

The clubface is WAY TOO OPEN halfway down.

Turn it down and finish more with a "one last point" at the target and a left thumb under "twist."

Its been a year. Been trying to work on everyone's suggestions. Took some video this morning. Any suggestions are welcome. Thought I had shortened my swing a little, guess not.

Edited to say that although it feels much different, it sure doesn't look that much different.

In all likelihood it will never look much different. It's crazy how doing something that feels radically different in your swing can still look so similar on video.

I hope it is Ok if I give this a bump. I originally posted it during the PGA which was poor timing, so I didn't get any response. Just wondering if anyone sees anything obvious (swing posted two posts up) that I need to be working on as it is finally starting to cool down a little around here. Getting the itch to put some time in.

I would like to see a little more bend in your posture. It doesn't look very athletic to me, I think you are standing too erect.
Also, It looks like you may be taking it back a little inside. The club looks a little behind your hands at the first parallel(to the ground) and I think it causes you to get across the line at the top of the swing.

1. Sit down a little more and get in to a more athletic set up
2. Take the club back a little straighter and try to keep it outside the hands at that first parallel.

K. Thanks I was thinking the same thing.

And my miss is left of left.

Looks really good. It looks to my untrained eye that everything is in good shape then you flip it at the last minute. Probably caused by something else and you need to flip to guard against some other miss. You said your miss is left of left and your first post you said you hit it really high. Is that still the case?

Ahhh, nice catch. I have been able to lower my flight somewhat in the last year. Some would stay I still hit it fairly high, but that is not as big of a concern as my distance has improved. I'm hitting my 7 iron at least 150, not far but an improvement for me.

It looks to me like I flip at the last minute as well. When I really try to not flip it, it feels as if I don't get the whip to really whack it. Is that because I am not hitting it with my pivot very well?
