i recently ventured back onto the golf course

was a little nervous on how i'd hit it, and surprisingly enough i didnt hit it well to start with

i had been watching many many videos, including all of brians over and over again. i decided to just start with the back-and-forth swinging drill to allow me to get the feeling for a good pivot, a solid arm swing and decent hand action.

to start withi hit a few solid shots but they wer low and short. a few shanks and a few genuine slices (which even when i played really badly never happened).

then i remembered hearing how brian wasnt over keen on teaching people to have a shaft leaning too far forward. i hadnt seen the D-plane discussion, and didnt know it was actually because it would be inside-out, but i realised that it could be what was causing some of my problems.

see, i was hitting them thin, but with a divot after the ball. so i thought, for the first time in my entire golfing life "maybe i could do to not hit down as much"

i had always thought that my problems had been cos i was flipping it. i'd hit short irons miles left and i'd think i had leakage. i'd hit behind it and think i was below plane, then i'd get steeper and have the shaft lean forward more.

so i tried what brian shows in SD by straightening the right wrist through impct. i had never, never, ever, ever EVER thought that ACTIVELY straightening the right wrist would ever be a good thing for anyone. but i as willing to try anything. so i practicd hitting shortish shots where i tried to get to first parallel post impact with only a slight bend in my right wrist, and with the face straight up and down.

well i started hitting really solid pitch shots and then longer shots. i started doing almost full swings with a stepping right foot to start the backswing a la brian manzella ;) and trying to straighten the wrist as i came to impact.

i have never hit the ball so good. 6 irons travelling 180-190 high with a draw.

yer a few went left, but then i worked my hips more open at impact and BAM! even better!

AND i still had a flat left wrist through impact even though my sub-conscious mind was telling me i was flipping it.

heres some video

sorry for the long post, but i was really excited at my ball flight after something i never thought would help.

any comments that anyone thinks would help me more are gladly welcomed

can i just say that's super?

Sheesh, you look like Ben Hogan in that video. Very nice follow through position. I just started using the SD pattern and I don't swing as fast as you but I am lovin' the distance and trajectory I am seeing. Good luck keeping this pattern going on the course.

thanks guys. loving it rite now!

burnitup as far as i know the link works fine  someone could offer to help??
