I have an i/s out swing path, however when I get to the ball I seem to come across it causing me to get jammed up and finish too much around my body. Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks.

I have seen this, usually you are standing too close; try imitating your swing back and down to impact very slow and stop at the ball. You will probably notice you are liable to hit it on the neck. Your mind won't allow this so it tells your body to pull up and away.
Standing further away also allows you to hit more out at the ball, just make sure your alignment is good. Use an old club across your toes to point left of target.

Yeah I agree you could be standing too close. If you stick your butt backwards at address a little bit like you are about to sit down that will free up some room for you.

But you said that you "come across it" with an actual ball. That implies outside in. You could also very easily be hitting the ball off your back foot if you do this as is the case with many people. So check on that too.

Good point, chris. I still think if he will get further away, it could solve ott also, it will encourage more inside out swing path.

I agree, it's hard to be over the top when you can barely reach the target line coming down. The downside possibly to that is that people can get into a blocking mode never squaring up their clubface so they have to make sure they are griping it strong enough and allowing there hands/arms to release over enough. But not seeing video makes it a little tough to know for sure and I'm starting to open up pandora's box here.

Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I will trying standing further away from the ball. Think that might really be the problem now that I think about it. I appreciate all the responses. Hopefully it helps.

I'm not advising him to be that much further away, he should move further away in small increments until he is comfortable yet further away. Not to the point that he can barely reach the ball, that would produce other problems.
The arms should be comfortably stretched out but not rigid or to their absolute maximum.

Quick check to make sure you're the right distance from the ball (can't remember where I got this)

Take your "normal" address and just before you're about to pull the trigger drop your right hand off the club.

If it moves towards you, you're too far away.

It moves away from you, you're too close.

It moves parallel (to the right) to the target line, you're juuuuust right baby bear.
