Increase speed

Since my original question got thread jacked, I was hoping Brian or someone on Brian's team could explain how the pro's increase their swing speed so dramatically from hip level through impact. I am wondering if you answer it in your video #3 Brian where you talk about dropping the arms and then pivoting through.
Thanks.

Not Brian or his team but many pros are floating some in this transition area. In this fashion their body's are steadily accelerating but their arms are being left behind a bit. When the slack is taken out and power package assembled, the arms get "picked up and taken for the ride by the body" Short answer, transition harder.

Ouch, sounds like a recipe for OTT to me.

Like bcoak, I want to know the answer to the original question: how to increase head speed in the release portion - hip height to follow thru.

Given the same technique a longer lever = greater speed but, what is the best technique?

I could not disagree more.

Let me make sure I have you right here Doom.

Are you saying that the arms are NOT "picked up and taken for the ride by the body."??

I'm not disagreeing with that statement.

I think I had more issue with the 'transition harder' part. I just feel like that message or thought or whatever, wants me to rotate the shoulders first, bringing me OTT.

I have more success (staying on or under plane) with dropping the hands/arms down a bit first.

What about the technique question?

Sonic, if you have to wait to drop the arms, it is likely that your pivot is faulty. Pros transition hard. Check your swing to see if you're up to "Tour Tempo" BCoak, on the other hand, is a mid single digit 'capper who likely doesn't have significant pivot issues.

My tempo is under 1.1 and actually I'm trying to get between .9 and 1.0. I thought I had a distinct OTT move but I'm not even sure about that anymore. I just know that when I transition hard-er, it's fore right (left-hander).

And I didn't get the sense that this was the answer to BCoak's original question.

I like this topic already...

I always feel like I play my best when my arms are along for the ride. In other words, I like to feel that my body pivot pulls my arms through the impact area to finish.

Additionally, this seems to keep the swing more compact and connected. And, it seems to allow centrifugal force to do its thing a little better. Thoughts?
