evolving swing
New
Hi,
I am new to this forum and I need some help/guidance with my swing.
To give you some background, I am a right handed high handicapper (21) who has been playing golf for the past 2 years. My 'bogey' shot was a slice off the tee with the driver or a pull hook. I have been told that I have a jerkey transition from the top, as the down swing is initiated with the shoulders and is causing an 'over the top??' move. To compound this, I have been told that I have a 'handsy' left hand grip and that I should focus on holding the club more in my fingers.
I have adjusted my grip to make it more in the fingers. This has caused the ball to start off to the left and then spin further left. I have also been focusing on trying to develop a pause at the top, letting the club fall into position with the wrists still cocked and and putting the power on late. This has straightened out the ballflight to some degree but I am still starting off left/straight and going further left.
I have heard/read alot about initiating the downswing with the hips without 'sliding left' and I have been told that I need to 'clear my hips' better, but, no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to get comfortable with doing this. It is a very frustrating experience....
Can you guys give me some tips/drills on how to sort this issue out.
