Inside takeaway problems

I have a very inside takeaway.

However, I get the club on the TSP at the top. My downswing is on pretty good plane, and I'm hitting a slight draw without flipping.

When I try to make my backswing more outside, I hit bad shots, right shoulder comes too high into impact, can't get the club properly on plane. I hit pulls. The club is above the TSP at the top.

How should I go on about fixing my takeaway?

I'm a perfectionist. I want to be the best I can. Can I be the best with an inside takeaway? I don't see the best players using this kind of takeaway :p

The backswing need only to be familiar - -

A suggestion would be as simple as using flashlights to trace the plane line

you should put your swing up on Youtube so we can all see!

Thanks for the advice Michael, I could do some flashlight training.

Here's my swing, as you can see my takeaway is alot more inside compared to Snead.

Nice swing, I like your downstroke
looks a lot like the arnold palmer swing Brian put up a few weeks back..............

Also watch the BAM "right forearm takeaway video"

And....

Like Nicklaus, Player, Palmer, Hogan, Nelson, Snead, etc.

When the club reached first parallel on the backswing, the clubshaft pointed to the RIGHT of both the target and the similar last parallel before impact location.

Brian, I'd love to hear more on this. Why do fewer great players have this move nowadays? What sort of compensations are needed for this move to work? I'm interested because I do this also.

Like tongzilla I also do this move in my swing and wonder why fewer great players use this move currently? Futher explanations are appreciated....

It is my impression that this more-inside takeaway move occurs when the hips rotate FREELY in the early backswing. I think that many modern-day golfers (eg. Tiger Woods) resist FREE hip rotation during the takeaway.

Jeff.

yes, but...

Jeff.

That sort of makes sense Jeff, but there are exceptions, such as Bubba Watson, who makes a super free hip turn with the club quite outside during the takeaway.

The Answer Manz.

"Why do fewer players have this move nowadays?"

Too much line drawing.

Too many line drawers.

Too much Hank Haney.

Not enough REAL knowledge.

I think that is why the first part of his backswing looks a little forced, He is consciously keeping the club outside his hands.
