Instructors: If you could only use 3 drills for the full swing what would they be?

Not an instructor, but this would be tough to answer for me if I were, because it would all depend on what the gofer needed.

Swing path and release being the glaring issues. Weak fades that start on the target line and fade off 10-20 yards and pull fades that finish at the target but start 10-20 yards left of the target.

Sounds like a face issue:

1. twistaway
2. clubface on the movie screen while hitting straight to draws.
3. wedding ring up finish.

Then path and pivot work. But, again not an official instructor.

How do you perform them, and why you chose it. Please.........

Walk through drill.

Ball between arms drill.

And left arm only drills for people who have a hard time using their pivot.

but you see how Brian stays well behind the ball even long after impact..

How does that work with walk through drill?

I want to do this so bad, but I guarantee hit it fat when my head stays well behind.

Hit 'em All Drill!

I do this most practice sessions.

1. Push-slice
2. Push-fade
3. Push
4. Push-draw
5. Draw
6. Pull-draw
7. Pull-hook
8. Pull
9. Pull-fade
10. Pull-slice

This trains 3-D awareness of path/face/angle of attack.
It helps prevent rut practice sessions (same target same shot syndrome)
It opens your mind to shot-making possibilities (each of these shots if properly aimed can be of use "out there")
It is a helluva lot of fun!

Caveat: I hit only two types of shots with the driver. The "upswing bomber" and the oil leak special (a little 'ol squeezer bunt)

If it was for the everyday average golfer.

1. A hip pivot for the back swing.(shaft over the belt line slight weight shift into the back leg then rotate the hips to 45.)Eyes casually over the ball upper fairly quiet and maintain some of the knee flex.

2. Shoulder turn in the back swing. (club over the shoulders, club on the inside of the back foot.) Shift weight slightly , rotate hips slightly, match the club on shoulders parallel to club on the ground.

3. Sequence drill. Put a chair in front of the lead hip.(from the top of the back swing bump the lead hip forward to hit the chair, keep the upper body slightly tilted away from the target , and get the back of your lead hand on the chair.)
Matching up the lead hip with the back of the lead hand (glove emblem)

As long as the hips are initiating the walk, the head doesn't have to go forward until after impact.

Bear don't care!

[QUOTE Would have ruined Nicklaus.[/QUOTE]

It seems given his VSP not a whole lot of left (connection etc. etc.) was needed!
