Introducing myself... and my Eureka moment

By way of introduction I'd like share my experience entering the world of TGM in the past couple weeks.

I'm 31 years old, carry a 7.5 index, and have been "timing my flip" for 16 years and looking for answers in pop instruction and blind hope to get to scratch.

I have to credit the recent GD article on "Stack & Tilt" for providing the door into TGM and what I perceive to be real answers and explanations of golf swing mechanics. After 2 weeks of MANY hours soaking up TGM info from this forum and various other sites, I am absolutely hooked to the game again. My poor wife is putting up with me either on this forum, in the living room with club in hand, or at the range. I bought Flipper and am making progress. I've ordered the 7th edition of TGM and a pure swing from rover golf . Can't wait to receive them in the mail!

I've had some success with chip, pitch, and punch, but my uneducated hands seem to have a learning disability in the full swing.

But yesterday I had a Eureka moment that helped me pivot on a full swing with quiet hands. After reading on this forum that the downswing pivot starts with the feet, I found that if I think about starting my downswing with the sensation of my left ankle (I'm right handed) rolling a little left with a twinge of the left calf muscle I was FINALLY able to make repeated swings with good sequencing. A tangible antidote for my stubborn head to starting the swing with my hands. Wow. "Effortless power" - it just doesn't seem right that I can hit the ball that good with my hands just tagging along for the ride, doing what feels like absolutely nothing.

I can't wait to get out to the range again. I've never had such targeted practice in my life. This is so much better than beating balls and trying to trial & error my way into good ball striking without clear fundamentals to focus on!

Brian - I love this website - an absolute gold mine. Keep up the "Italian Stallion Passion". My only criticism is that there appears to be a broken link on the video page for the MANZELLA ACADEMY VIDEO ARCHIVES. It sure would be nice to have a single location for all of the video gems currently "buried" in the forums.

Looking forward to REAL sustained improvement and much more enjoyment of the game!

You've found a good source of TRUTH man (in a game of LOTS of BS, myths, and misinformation)..................and as corny as that may sound (I do realize)............it is true.

No doubt. I already have learned so much in a short two weeks. I'm sure I set some sort of record for most forums read and videos watched - and I'm just scratching the surface.

Nothing better than getting the real deal here and applying it. On the range hitting balls, there's no greater truth than using the pivot to eliminate throw away!

I would have never emphasized that reality in my practice without this forum and Brian Manzella. It's so exciting to see the progress. Today at the range, in a small bucket of 50 balls, I only had 7 swings where I knew I overaccelerated my hands. For me, that's HUGE! Can't wait to get to the point where Jim K. described - where you pivot so well, you can't flip if you try!

Nirvana!!!!!!!

Smells Like Teen Spirit! I just posted a thread similar where I stopped over-accelerating and I typed basically the same thing.......effortless power. Less effort and better contact. I feel that my swing has NEVER been better. Now I've also never practiced so much either but I know Brian is the reason and I've never even met the guy, just the web.

Good luck and welcome.
