is it my left elbow?

i have a strong-ish grip and am aligned parallel to target line. i'm focusing on starting my swing with my lower body, not casting, and approaching the ball from the inside, but am still hitting fades/slices or pulls. i think my swing looks decent, but notice my left elbow juts out in my followthrough. is this the main cause of my clubface still being open at impact? or am i keeping my head down for too long? could anyone recommend any drills or swing thoughts based on any observations that may be causing my inconsistency? thanks for looking.

A better swivel will help. Feel like your left elbow is pointing to the ground in the followthrough

Right hand dominant grip causing problems. Ball too far back and address position with club leaning way forward toward target are two more issues.
Chicken wing finish ican also be caused by the grip. Squeezing too much with both hands means somethings got to give.

bamfur,
Weaken the left hand grip/heel pad on top and then learn to swivel the whole left arm after both arms straight. You may want to experiment with mid body hands at address.

thank you guys. i will try weakening my grip and focus on swiveling, but this non-swiveling is deeply ingrained into my swing. could anyone offer any drills to learn the proper motion/feel? trying to do the wedding ring up or keeping a headcover under my left armpit feels very restrictive and limits my followthrough. is this how its supposed to feel?

The club face is shut at the top and you are opening it on the way down....If I remember correctly Brian talks about that in NSA, either buy it or if you have it review it.

I have NSA, actually I have all of Brian's videos except NHA. My clubface is closed at the top because i had been working on the twistaway. I had previously been making the mistake of opening my clubface and cupping my left wrist in the backswing, twistaway fixed that.

Now I think I generally have a FLW at the top, but I guess I've also developed a habit of not rotating/releasing. To compensate I guess I have moved to an increasingly stronger grip so that my clubface would stay square even with an aggressive weight shift and pivot. essentially, i have managed to groove a zero release swing.

Thanks for chiming in Brian, I will work on neutral grip. Do you have any recommendations on drills for a compulsive non-releaser? I just dont know how to swivel, or get the left elbow down... this is in spite of keeping the wedding ring up thought in mind... should i experiment with a clubhead cover in the left armpit drill? it feels like i am abruptly abbreviating my followthrough... please help. Thanks.

Club face on the movie screen is a drill that will make you swivel and when you swivel this way, there is no way that the left arm can chicken wing.

The problem is your not keeping the twist away in the downswing because if you were you should be hitting big hooks with that strong grip and closed face.

do i actively swivel? or is it something that's supposed to happen passively? i feel like this would lead to inconsistency having to time that swivel perfectly right at impact and am afraid may turn me into a flipper.

You may see the ball go right after you weaken your grip and this....
should encourage the swivel.

This is what I believe is going on....You have a strong grip because you have been slicing it but now you have added twist away and your face is dead shut at the top and you have developed a swing that opens the club instead of rotating it closed, not good. As Brian and others said get that grip fixed to a neutral position. As for the swivel, it comes natural for some and others feel like they really have to manipulate but don't confuse swiveling for flipping.
