Is this possible?

Taking a look at my swing from face on, I see I have a tremendous amount of lag at the start of the downswing; it still looks good halfway and maybe even 3/4's of the way down, then everything just collapses and I'm early flipping with the driver and my hands on the video look like they are hitting from my right thigh. Ball flight is crappy - all over the place. From behind I'm absolutely dead on plane in the correct spots. How on earth is this possible, or am I just seeing things? Oddly enough, my iron swing seems an awful lot better. Please help me pull my head out from my arse,
Thanks...

So you're hitting off the right thigh? Like Tom watson in the upper sequence below?

Yeah, but I have a feeling Watson's ball went like a bullet somewhere near to where he wanted it. Mine goes like a sack of shit all over the show. And I can see the pronounced flip in my swing that Watson probably wouldn't have, even with a few more frames of his swing inserted
Moreover, Watson has that fantastic extension, whereas my wrists are hardcore cocking all the way just after impact so no extension like Tom.
But natep, thanks 4 trying to make me feel better!!

I looked like that for years. The way i fixed it was to shorten my arm swing on the backswing, to keep my arms/club more in front of my body, and stop backing out of it (head moving backwards) on the downswing. It's hard to say without seeing your swing, but maybe those things might help you as well.

You sound like my driver swing was untill I sarted to how can I say it swing the driver I know I swing the irons too, but to me it seems like I hit my irons and I swing my driver and longer clubs does that makes sense? Ill try again with the longer clubs it seems like I sweep the ball off the tee/ground and on the irons I try to drive the ball in the ground. I was trying to drive my longer clubs into the ground and it was awful, ball was going everywhere and short yuck! Much better now. Im also trying to sweep my short iron now too, much better control.

Yes, it's possible, take a look at European Tour player, Paul Ellebye's swing.

He doesn't flip at impact, but he goes from extraordinarily lagging of the club to flipping it past impact (fast overtaking rates) because he pretty much has to in order to get the ball airborne.

Nice find Richie,

I dont think I have seen a swing like that before! I might be wrong, but to me, it looks like he has a very unique hip movement.

His hips stop turning very early and start to unwind very early, forcing the club to change direction under alot of force.

Does anyone else think the hips largely contribute to this move?

For most people, the more lag you have in the transition, the more the clubhead fires out early. I call it....Tug and throw.

Search Youtube for Michael Jacobs' video "Impact and Low Point"

I watched that video, how do you control the club face with the low point that is being shown in the video? I tried his method by feeling like releasing early, but it always goes to the left? And how does it work with confession of the former flipper?
It's so confusing!
