Brian, I met you at Outback during the Teaching summit. What
were your overall thoughts on Hardy's presentation? I personally
thought it was very good, but I am having trouble seeing John
Daly and Fred Couples as one planers. Also, if you hang left
and don't have much tilt in the downswing, how do you get the
ball in the air if you have any lag?

Hardy says Snead is a one-planer, I say BS

If you drew the green line through the upper arm and not the forearm, they would visually align with the shoulder plane.

I think that using planes to analyze and classify swing patterns is primitive. Kinematically, you would trace the arc paths of the moving body parts to scientifically determine what is actually happening, because that's the only way to calculate movement and forces.

Eyeballing golfswing from pictures or even videos is too variable and indecisive to make sweeping generalizations. However good golf instructors are able to comparatively assess an individual's golfswing in their presence and make specific judgements and recommendations.

That red shoulder line seems to coincide with the line of Snead's upper arm. Don't forget that Snead had a slight bend in his left elbow at the top of his swing. The correct left arm line should be drawn from the left shoulder to the left elbow, because as the downswing progresses the left arm straightens to align the left forearm with the left upper arm .... which is certainly on plane with his shoulder rotation. Definitely SA ..... :)

"Definitely SA". Isn't it apparent what he's up to? He slips in an absurd comment in order to provoke a reaction. Much like the "handle backing up" comment. He's yanking our chains.

He's a troll and you guys would be a hell of a lot better off just ignoring him. They thrive on attention and that is exactly what you guys are providing him by debating with him. Ignore and they go away.

Why is he still around here?

He has a full stringer but there's no limit.:)

heh, heh...i think this is why in geometry they told us you need three points to define a plane, otw you can draw line every which way...in some of the other threads i though horton had some real questions/points, but i have to agree with mizunojoe's chain yanking observation on this one...brian, when you get a chance, could you take a look at the one/single-plane question i just posted on the "REAL Plane Angles, By Brian Manzella" thread?...thanks!

More and more I feel that you guys are outfitted with identical dark colored glasses , barely enough to make out were you are walking but having no idea what is just beyond your nose.

Mutually petting each other on the back with those silly remarks without substance. Just like in a tavern after too many beers.

You are lucky to have someone like horton who can discuss things from a scientific angle. Nevertheless, only sarcasm and no desire to learn anything.

There are those who want to go forward but alas also those just content to stay where they are, afraid of anything new which might come their way.

Like his scientific post regarding Yoda's swing speed and carry distance using his quicktime, how can you get more precise than that!

Horton and Mandrin believe that all great players have SA swing including Jim Furyk.

OK, so, that example, and maybe many others were not the best examples to make his point.

The question still remains, does anyone have an option with regard to Hardy's discussion of the one plane swing and the two plane swing. The one plane swing is at least intriguing.
