Doesn't pivot like crazy. Great left arm replacement. Free release, especially the left hand on the wall.

He is short compared to other top players and can't really putt but:

Driving Accuracy Percentage 75.65% (1st)

Greens in Regulation Percentage 71.26% (3rd)

I think Joe used to use a ten finger grip if i remember correctly. Could this have something to do with his release and cuppling point?

Where do his eyes/head go coming down?!! Man, he makes David Duval's head look like it is in cement. I've been trying to watch impact these days because I've played 40 years without ever seeing it. This swing makes that look sort of unimportant.

Joe Durant...I don't know. The radar stats at pgatour.com indicate that he hits down on it quite a bit. He has one of the lowest launch angles along with some of the highest spin rates.

Yes he is very straight. Poster boy? Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy, Noh, and whole host of others. I think there are just better examples than Durant, in fact I would probably be more inclined to believe he is a poster boy for handle dragging.

Thanks Jared - looking again, it seems you're right.

Durant bows his wrist a lot at the top of the backswing and avoids hitting it a long way left by using quite a weak grip. If he pivoted like some of those you mention, he probably would hook the crap out of it.

A bit of a 'dinker' (nothinng wrong with it).

Sure looks like it to me!

So who is right?

If Jared's stats are correct, then I would agree that poster boy wouldn't be accurate. Things he does sure are "tour like" but if he hits down that much with high spin rates that isn't optimal. I love how his hands work though.

Durant should hit it a lot further than he does.

112 clubhead speed. Ranks near the bottom in carry efficiency and distance efficiency.

His swing, really was one i studied a lot a few years ago, I just never could reconcile how he got all that "lag look" with such a bowed left wrist. He does have an easy looking motion, there is a ton that I like. I just don't think he is a poster boy for the "release".
