Just out of interest really...

So I've played for 25-odd years at a pretty good standard and my ball striking has always been pretty solid - At least, that's what I thought...
Since sucking in a lot of Brian's stuff, from this forum and his vids, my swing feels so crappy (sometimes to the extent that sometimes I feel like I'm gonna actually miss the ball) but my ball striking has improved immeasurably; I never thought I could actually hit it this well, and have banished a quarter century's worth of leading hard with the left arm down into impact and recovering by whipping the right hand around and over the left hand, so that all my divots were toe-deep.
Here's my question: I wonder how many tour pros have perfected a substandard move to the point where they've become somewhat successful, never questioned the validity of what they were doing because they've never fallen on too many hard times (or they can flat-out roll it) , but if Brian et al were to grab ahold of them they'd be shocked at where they should be. Just out of interest, really...

Is there a "perfect" swing out there? All snow flakes. Some are just more sound than others.

George Archer was a dear friend of mine and he was a flipper. Flipped it all the way to the bank. He did very well with his move. Yes, he could roll it better than most.

Funny you should ask...

I intend on going out on Tour this year to a few events that I wouldn't normally go to, for the express purpose of doing some research for Project 1.68 and to see if any PGA Tour players need some help from a non-method, non-restricted pivot, non-just a flat backswing, non-guessing, TrackMan using, super experienced, no BS teacher.

Really.

:)

I was a good junior golfer...but a mediocre college player. The ONLY benefit (outside of an education) is that I know a few guys that bat it around for a living. The consistent performers among them have figured this deal out. They have found a workable shot shape and they know how to aim their "machine." No doubt Brian can help them, but some of the cats I know don't need that much help! I think the players that find consistent play elusive will benefit the most. One of my best friends who just got his amateur status back (and has won some big ammy tournaments since) would throw his hands up in disgust and say "I'm hitting it so bad I have to go back to my "over the top" move. My reply was why don't you stop fooling with it and just come over the top, you hit it great! I promise you that Brian would not have had him swing it any other way! He was chasing a theoretical ideal that did not exist. So his problem was a conceptual one. Someone posted that to hit little draw they had to feel like they were fading it! :eek:That would have sent me into tilt-mode for sure! D-plane would have helped him a great deal. I kinda hate on the guys that figured it out themselves, don't you?

hmmm

Come to the West Coast Swing(the Hope Classic would be cool) and do some regular tour stops first for the lowly hackers, please.
