Brian,
Thank you for another fabulous work. I had purchased Confessions of a Former Flipper and Never Hook Again, and as good as those productions were, you've stepped your game up further. The explanations have become even clearer and your on-camera persona is that much more engaging--which is saying a lot considering how stiff and awkward you had always made the rest of these so-called experts look.
But before I sign off by just saying thank you, I want to be more complete in my assessment. When I first joined this forum, my very first post was about Hank Haney's parallel plane theory. I, as a huge Tiger fan, was curious what someone as knowledgeable as yourself thought about this methodology. We probably got off on the wrong foot, and it was my fault--I came to dinner at your house and basically made it seem that the food was better elsewhere. Being the man you were, you gave me your number and talked to me for 30 minutes. Your attentiveness, charisma, and the massive knowledge you possessed made me want to come see you for a lesson, which alas and unfortunately, didn't come to pass.
On my own, I worked on a contrived, parallel plane type swing that just didn't work--no matter how many sequences I studied or how many practice swings I made. So I sat back and tried to learn from all the wonderful information you and your dedicated staff put out (shout outs to Ryan, Jim, Mike, Tom, Kevin, Damon--even if we all haven't had direct exchanges, there's been many a late night I've been up reading what you all had to say).
In hindsight, I've discovered, more than anything else (even though there's a whole lot), how intellectually lazy you've made Haney and the rest of his ilk look. I've always been captured by those who think critically and in the golf swing business, that's rare--hell, until I came across you, it seemed non-existent.
I think I've been on this forum now for two plus years, and I still can't thank you enough. Hearing about your new position at English Turn wasn't surprising, considering how talented and hard working you are, but really, it couldn't happen to someone more deserving.
So again, thanks for all that you do, and how it shines through in wonderful works like Soft Draw 1.0. It's still a bit chilly in Ohio but I have no doubt that my non-dynamic, laid-off, flat, shut faced, right elbow tight against the body swing is morphing into something more. Just from the discussion about SD 1.0, I could tell this was a pattern that could help me. Let's just say that even before getting the video, and working on some of the things you've posted regarding this pattern, I hit a shot that made me happier than any I've ever hit. I was on a par three playing just shy of 160 yards--the tee shot I hit was a beautiful high draw that I will never forget. The pleasure it gave me and the way it still sticks with me--hell, that's what golf is all about for me: hitting shots that make me happy. I know you're teaching will help me to keep on doing that.
With the video in hand and the weather slowly warming up in Ohio, I will be sure to practice hard. I will let you know how it's coming along and will definitely shoot for a lesson to get some customization. I won't miss another opportunity! Honestly, it would be a dream come true. Plus, my birthday is in April--but think of SD 1.0 as an early gift.
All the best,
Lukman
