I followed him and Phil around a tournament earlier this year. He would take 6 practice swings, then get over the ball, take 6 fake "practice" backswings, then back off the ball, repeat 2 or 3 times on every single shot.

Could not pull it back on first tee. Gonna be a long day. Almost like the baseball players who can,t throw to first or back to the pitcher

I wish I were there. I'd be telling him "hit the ball" after every one of his waggles. I'd get kicked out. But it would be worth it. Does he not understand the more time you spend over the ball the more time you give negative thoughts to creep in?

When did this waggle-issue start with Na? I don't ever recall him doing that. He admitted he has an issue in his post-round interview Friday but I didn't hear him talk about how long it's been going on.

You have to believe he'll work thru it much like Sergio did, but I just caught his tee shot on 14...... AYKM?!!

Third round leader. What determination.

Absolutely incredible. Could not believe the number of shots he absolutely flushed after his pre shot theatrics today. Lots to guys "go through" issues like Na is experiencing, they just don't tend to contend during those periods.

What I see is an incredibly selfish player with zero concerns for anyone but himself. Exactly one of the most noticble traits of great golfers. I don't feel sorry for him or anything else. It's just a guy not hitting until he feels he's ready.

Certainly don't feel sorry for NA but depending on how they issue "bad times" I'd feel for his playing partners. I can't recall how they do it.... seems like the USGA puts the whole group on the clock. Just when I thought the PGA Tour had grown a pair I see he gets a fine only. Whoopee....

What's next.... they keep letting them anchor putters? :)

When's the next US Open at Bethpage? Would live to see how Na's roadshow plays out there! Too many patient fans at Sawgrass. ;)

To be fair to Na,he is suffering the full swing yips.I don't think he was always like this and it's not intentional.

“I changed my setup starting at the Masters last year,” Na said after the round, when he answered every question from the media and laughed at himself. “I was trying to get more forward, trying to get the backswing more up. And because my balance at the setup is totally different, I don't feel comfortable. I'm trying to get comfortable with my waggles. It's usually a little waggle, half-waggle, little waggle, half-waggle, and boom, supposed to pull the trigger. But if it doesn't work, I've got to go in pairs. So it'll go four; and if it doesn't work, it'll go six; and after that—there's a lot going on in my head.”

The room erupted with laughter.

“And it's not—I'm not being nice to myself, trust me,” Na added. “I'm ripping myself. But you know, there's so much on the line that I just have to sometimes back off. Or I'll force myself to take it back, and on the way down I'll come up and pull up and go over the top. As ugly as it is and as painful as it is, believe me, it's really tough for me, and I'm trying.”

Watching him freeze up makes me nervous. Too much like a golf nightmare. Watching him fight his demons may be more painful than watching Els over a short putt to win a tournament. I feel for those guys - I would think anyone who ever yipped a really short putt under pressure to win something that mattered (even if that is just a Saturday $5 Nassau) would feel for them.

I would have liked to have seen Zach Johnson with another partner yesterday. I think he'd be the winner today although I am a little biased.
