I struggle with bouts of being too much in-out, especially with irons. The result is usually either a big hook or a nasty block (I'm lucky when it's just a push).
Question is:
If you do not snap your kinetic chain enough, and just continue turning the hips through impact, will it promote coming too far in-out (if your arms are following behind the body)? In other words, they are never given the chance to catch up and square up the plane line?
Reason I ask is that I have slowly taken out my left foot action from the swing, and I think it has hurt more than helped. My driver swing speed has dropped from 100 mph to 90 mph, and although my irons still go about the same distance, these in-out path problems are getting annoying.
Thinking about putting that left foot action back in and really getting back to snapping it at impact. Really want to get that speed back!
Something I have already done (since I saw it on video) was to stop allowing my hips to turn really fast in the backswing (where they would finish early and then the arms would try to continue lifting). This has worked pretty good so far and has really tightened up my pivot.
How do I use the left heel action and not have my hips rotate too much? Use more of a NHA hip slide?
