Knee, Achilles injuries knock Tiger Woods out of Quail Hollow

Impossible to tell by looking at someone if they are using steroids, hgh , etc. Sure your typical bodybuilders are obvious, but typically their taking huge amounts, doing a huge amount of lifting, and stacking multiple substances. This is not what someone trying to improve stamina or their golf swing would do. My guess, is that you have several golfers doing illegal substances to different degrees, including even blood doping. A lot of money out there at stake and the slightest advantage could be the difference in making your card.

First person, I thought "might" and I stress "might" be doing steroids, because you never know for sure, some people just have great genetics was Annika. Seemed to me she beefed up pretty quickly and just blew by the field. At that time Karrie was dominating the tour, all of a sudden, Annika gets beefed up, starts blowing the ball by her. Just wondering....

I think suggesting that Tiger was/is on steroids is waste of time.

Was he on steroids at age 15 when he started a streak of winning 3 straight US Juniors and then 3 straight US Am's?!?! I wonder how many golfers qualified for Match Play during that age range 6 straight times in those 2 events let alone win 6 in a row!

Completely missing the point.

Sorry, I just don't think HGH or anabolics are being used in golf other than what might be prescribed by a doctor for recovery from a surgery.

Let's be realistic, golf is a game, not a true sport. Would being juiced help hit it further, you bet, just ask Jason Zubak. But, with new technology and a focus on fitness, 150 lb.kids are bombing the ball.

When golfers have 300 lb men smashing them from behind after they tee off, then we can talk about the need for HGH/steroids.

Ah, you're one of "those." Golf is just a game because it's not a contact sport. What about tennis, what about gymnastics, what about swimming, not to mention the majority of the olympics? I've never seen any defensive ends in any of those sports. I hate to break it to you, but the realm of sport extends far beyond the NFL. Just because you don't respect it, doesn't make in any less valid a sport.

Absolutely missing the point. Mark McGwire claimed he didn't need PED's because he had always been a homerun hitter. Alex Rodriguez averaged 40 homeruns per season before admitting taking PED's. Marion Jones was a two-time World Champion track and field athlete before admitting taking PED's in 2000 at the Olympic village in Sydney.

Claiming someone's past successes does not preclude them from scrutiny.

"Gary Player, in July 2007, addressing the media at the Open Championship (i.e., the British Open) stated he was aware of two male golf professionals that were using PEDs (he was told in confidence by these players and thus had promised not to mention any names) and thought the number could be as high as 10 or much higher."

Tiger reportedly lifts prodigious amounts of weight 6 days per week. Anyone that lifts knows that the human body needs recovery time. He's the energizer bunny. When his body began breaking down, he turned to a doctor in Canada that is known for supplying his friends with HGH.

I don't know about you, but I could drive to a North Philly street corner and try to purchase some Advil, but I dont' think the cop is going to buy the story. Do you?

Hope he is ok. He doesn't look like a roid monkey to me, but who knows. I dont know much about it, types (mass, recovery, endurance, or whatever), etc. Hope he is ok, and doing the right things. More knee injuries..eek.

1. Tiger doesn't lift prodigious poundages I have heard he can bench press 300lbs that isn't prodigious for a man of that weight

2. Athletes rarely start taking drugs when they get good they're usually taking them from early on.

3. Just because an athlete says they started taking drugs at such a date doesn't mean they havent been taking them before then.

I do respect the game, but, lets face it, there are many players at the highest level of the game that would not be considered athletes.
Don't get your knickers knotted up, golf is not the only game that falls into this category.
BTW, tennis players and gymnasts are, the vast majority of time, very good athletes. Comparing a gymnast to a golfer is just silly.

Professional sportsman?

Completely missing the point.

I didn't read your post before I wrote mine, so I'm sure it occured to you that I did miss the point.

With that said--my point is that I say Tiger hasn't used PED's. My other point is that Tiger is a golfing genius proven by what he's done specifically from ages 15-30ish. I specifically pointed to his amateur record which may be some of his most impressive accomplishments.

Now would it absolutely shock me if it comes out one day that Tiger used some PED to speeed up his injury recovery- NO. But IMO, I say he hasn't and I don't agree with the people out there who say PED's have positively affected his performance over the years.

As for what I believe some of your other points were: I agree that all of his swing change stuff is crazy and he should just go out and play golf. Even back in some of those US Amateur victories, he used to drive it all over the map.

I don't consider myself to be anymore a Tiger fan than anybody else but if I have to put my money on one guy to win the most majors over the next 5 years, my money still goes on Tiger.

sport   /spɔrt, spoʊrt/ Show Spelled[spawrt, spohrt] Show IPA
–noun
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2. a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.
3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.

From Wikipedia:

"A sport is an organized, competitive, entertaining, and skillful activity requiring commitment, strategy, and fair play, in which a winner can be defined by objective means. It is governed by a set of rules or customs."
"Physical events such as scoring goals or crossing a line first often define the result of a sport. However, the degree of skill and performance in some sports such as diving, dressage and figure skating is judged according to well-defined criteria. This is in contrast with other judged activities such as beauty pageants and body building, where skill does not have to be shown and the criteria are not as well defined."
"While practices may vary, sports participants are expected to display good sportsmanship, and observe standards of conduct such as being respectful of opponents and officials, and congratulating the winner when losing."
