Standard.....does this mean the knee has to be STRAIGHT!!.....or just have less bend than at Address...?

R. Anchor.....100% same amount of bend as at Address.....or some amount of bend, just not STRAIGHT.

let's get it started...

standard, HKelley says "straight". But what did this really mean? Is straight meaning exactly that?

right anchor, imo feels more athletic, the basketball defense position with spring in the knees type feel. I think the trail knee straightens a little itty bitty, but nowhere near the degree of standard.

But HK definition, standard means a straight, and right anchor means any degree of bend.

Birdie, I know the above does not answer your question, but my connotation is right anchor remains more flexed and standard has more straightening to straight feel. And the "feel" is big time different.

Who prefers what and why??

What is the purpose/intent/benefit of tilting the hips (straight knee) as compared to keeping them level (consistent flex) in the move back?

I agree with you, DRW!

I think, tho, that most people do not set up with the left hip a little higher than the right at address. I think if you set up hips level the tendency would be to straighten the right knee a bit in the back move or even a lot because the right hip will want to move up.

I'm not sure... but I think this could be why folks like to shift their weight to the right leg so than can better turn the hip....?

Anyway, I'm in favor of a little knee rotation but not straigthening.
