Leakage... Hook ?

Hi all,

At the range today i was working on getting my hands ahead at impact.. getting decent compression.

I was hitting the inside of the ball (had a piece of wood outside it to check) but was getting pulls straight left as the bad shots. The quality of contact wasn't as good on these ones either

I'm assuming that would be more than likely not getting the hands forward enough? and what would be called a 'lag leakage' hook ?

Cheers

That could be correct.

But it could also mean just a closed face.

Thanks Brian, i'm thinking they were as they just felt a tiny bit flippy to me. Probably a good indication they were :)

Correspondingly if your hands are too far forward (than say the standard built in shaft lean) at impact would that produce low fades?

Oh and BTW i was using the manzella neutral grip with a little bit of twistaway (not much)

Brian,

Wouldn't bergsey get a pull hook rather than a straight pull if his path was correct but the face was closed/flipped closed?....Or does the flip cause out to in at impact?....

No, it would start slightly left and then draw/hook...

Yep you are right, ball leaves the clubface at 90deg so if the club face is closed at seperation then the ball is starting left of where you were originally aiming the club face.

The question is how did it get closed and i think in my case it was bending the left wrist and 'flipping' slightly at impact

Too far forward causing a slice is only relative to how much you roll them. If you are rolling through impact too far forward will just produce a low shot as the clubface will be delofted but square.
