I first heard Lee's comments and I was laughing, then I started thinking and thought, damn, if Lee could teach Tiger to his his controlled fade, he might be right, Tiger would be unbelieveably tough to beat.

Lee, may not have all of the teaching credentials of a Hank or Harmon, but he beat it out of the dirt and might be a pretty good teacher.

Agree it would be pretty cool.

Has Trevino ever really explained how he hit "his" fade? I know he's discussed how to hit "a" fade, but it was geared for a pro-am partner. Curious about the "feel vs. real" aspect.

I've heard people say he really didn't play a fade. What? I watched him play at the '78 Open at Cherry Hills, and I will assure you his preferred tee shot (back then) curved left to right. A lot! I'd call some of them "power slices"--the ball would start at (or left of) the trouble on the left and finish in the middle of the fairway. Sneaky long too. Fun stuff.

I watched him play in a senior event ten years ago, he actually played a draw most of the time. As he got older, he plyer rt to left.

Trevino would tell him if he can find a coach that can beat him listen to him...

Trevino had an instructional tape series... you can see some clips on youtube I believe...

yeah, as he got older and post back surgery, he did start gitting more rt to lt. in his prime though, he was a low fader..

I watched him play in a senior event 2 weeks ago, and he played a block-cut into the right rough most of time.....ha ha......he was one of the best.

He spent his warm up time before he rounds talking with and giving lessons to anyone who would listen to him....was trying to show Jim Dent how to chip without flipping.

I would go see what he has to say I'm sure.

The only thing is Trevino might be a hard guy to shake if you decide you want to do it your own way a while.

But I am a deranged recluse so...

Really though...the truth is it ain't gonna kill him to see what he has to say and give it a shot.

My opinion is Tiger should at least see what Lee has to say. If Nicklaus offered Tiger a lesson, he would take it no question. Why not Lee Trevino? After all, after Hogan and Norman, he is recognized by many many players and teachers as one of the greatest ball strikers in the history of the game.

Golf has to be a game of listen to everyone, filter, and apply what works for you. You never know what you might learn or figure out as a result of listening to someone who swings ENTIRELY different then you. After all, we all swing holding the club in front of us, with our hands, standing somewhat parallel to the target vector.

I watched Lee and Arnold warming up before a skins game in NJ about 12 years ago. Lee talks constantly. He was hitting his little cut and started to hit a few little draws, maybe a couple of yards. He then goes on to say "People always said that I couldn't play a draw. I can play a draw, I just never saw any money in it".
