Left arm connection

Do you guys like the feeling that your left arm is connected to your body? I haven't been able to hit my 3w for like 2 years, not kidding. I'd hook it off the planet and then hit bad shots trying not to hook it. The last time I played golf a lot was about 6 years ago and I used to kill my 3w. So today on the tee I tried to remember what I used to do. The only thing I remember was taking the club straight back and keeping my left arm very connected to my chest. The result was the best 3w I've hit in 2 years, high draw right down the middle about 240 yds. Coincidence or pure luck? What do you guys think about having your left arm connected? Thanks

Curtis

Have done that before and it really helps me to swing the woods more smoothly. At the very least it keeps me from casting. But lately, I have switched to hybrids which are way much easier to hit with a little loss in distance. To me it's a good trade off.

I think all it does is make sure your left elbow rotate through to the left. My club gets stuck sometimes be hind me, I just really try to feel like swinging close to my body and to the left...works like a charm. I guess that's the connection you are talking about. Without the connection in the down swing my left arm can go to the right...creates hooks/pulls/push fades...a.ll kinds of crazy things...

Keepng the left arm against the chest, particulary during the start of the downswing, is a key. It ensures the pivot initiates the downswing. It prevents being 'handsey' at the top. In general, to my way of thinking, it prevents flipping because the hands do not over-accelerate.

I'm gonna try to squeak in 9 today and will try this with the 3w and driver. I'm thinking this "LAC" is giving me more flat of a backswing than what I've been doing with my "woods". Which I've been wondering about since I'm hitting my irons great and the other 2 bad. It also gives me more of a compact swing as I may have been overswinging with the big sticks. I'll update later.
