Left Arm Role in the New Release

Hello everybody! I am not new to the forum, however this is my first post. I have been reading everything about the new release and as a "tugger" or "dragger" of the club I am confused on how the left arm works and the feelings associated in the new release swing. From the top does the left arm assist in pushing the club head away? Does the left arm literally stay limp or stagnant as the right arm straightens or releases until impact? Does the left arm physically do anything during the downswing to line up the club or go normal? At impact does the left arm assist in pulling the coupling point up and in or does the left elbow simply rotate to point behind you? I am just very confused now how to use the left arm. Any informatin or answers would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
William

See MJ's videos on replacing the left arm. No need to think about anything else but getting that arm vertically down as fast as possible.

I have seen the both parts of the video. To me the video deals more with getting into a particular or desirable position. My question relates to how the left arm gets there. I know throwaway exist at the top of the backswing. Does the left arm assist in this move? On the way down is the left arm passive? Does the right arm straighten and push the left arm down? Is the left arm only active after impact assisting in moving the coupling point? I am looking more or less for the feeling or role of left arm in the new release swing.

Good question. I have another thread going about hitting it fat on occasion with this swing. It's great to have the science backing up the debunking of myths (flat left wrist) and old swing patterns (many based on "Hogan did this"), but other than the hands and wrist action through the ball I think we are at the very early stages here in terms of defining this new swing. Or perhaps the old patterns still apply but just need to get tweaked to allow for more earlier left arm replacement and hinging motion that keeps the face square to the tabletop.

It is possible this issue has purposely been avoided. Brian and Mike may not want anyone to focus on the left arm at all, especially because everyone was tugging/dragging prior. I more or less think of the left arm being used the same way in a split handed hockey shot. It allows the right hand to fire through. I could be totally incorrect though.
