Left side pivot

I read the followings in this forum and others regarding the downswing:

- right shoulder down; trace plane line;
- hands do nothing

Today, I try using the pivot to bring the arms down. What I did is at the top, I have the right shoulder down, then the left side pull and hit the ball. It feels like the left is powering the release, and is able to have both arm straight after impact longer (before, after impact, my left arm collapse).

My question is is this correct since I also read that the left shoulder is always out of plane, but now I feel that my left is doing most of the works after the right shoulder down.

Thanks,
Dan.

The left shoulder is always off plane. The right shoulder should be on plane. I believe what you are feeling is pivot thrust. Some of the more knowledgable TGMers on this board should be able to elaborate more on this.

Feel generally isn't real, get the swing on video and make sure that what you think you are doing is really happening.

That is how I see it also. I think tgmer is describing Pivot Thrust "Rotating Motion" dragging/pulling the club by turning through the shot. You will feel the upper portion of the left arm being pressed against the upper chest as a result PP 4. If this is your power source think of keeping the trail shoulder moving downplane for direction rather than a driving if that helps clear confusion and feels right for your "SWINGING" action. Brian discusses this with his frizbee throw in his exellent "Do it right" video.

Thanks all for the comments. This clear the confusion as I thought hand control pivot and now I feel pivot control the motion. So, this is the pp4 poviding the power to follow through and at the same time I still need to control the hands, therefore still hand control pivot!
