Left Thumb Under in NHA 2.0

For those of us who need NHA 2.0, what does left thumb under the club accomplish? And does this have to be in conjunction with a flat left wrist? I have scanned the older posts but can't find what I am looking for.

I think it would relax an arched left wrist at the top, but you can still have it flat with a neutral grip. For what it's worth, I have found that working on the path Brian talks about in the video and playing from a slightly open stance has helped to straighten out the hooks.

I just re-watched NHA 2.0 and at about 32:25 into it Brian says he likes the thumb under with a flat left wrist and toe down.

That's almost impossible physically; a slight bend is advisable in NHA to help keep the face open. He generally refers to it as a "soft left wrist." However i don't if that was from NHA 1 or 2

He definitely says toe-down and flat wrist in 2.0. But I get your larger point. Toe down is what we are trying to accomplish in this pattern. It's weird, the more and more I learn from NHA 2.0 the more I realize this was how I swung the club in my early twenties and it was my best ball striking years. Upright backswing, soft/cupped wrist toe down, and an OTT move. Of course people "in the know" said good players come from the inside lol. So I started down that path and it turned me into a severe inside/out hopeless flipper who couldn't play a lick.

You're not alone.
